Problem: Focused on How not What
● Someone asked, who are you serving? Who is this for?
● I was focusing on details instead of big picture.
● My answer had nothing to do with my prototype.
● Problem with mission statement: didn’t focus on helping
people fundraise.
● Didn’t drill down to the purpose of the website: to help
people fundraise.
● Didn’t determine why people had difficulty or how to
make it easier.

- Creating a compelling story.
How do you help people create a compelling
story?
-Have them reflect on why they’re doing this.
How do you help make fundraising less
intimidating? (How do you eat an elephant?)
- You break it down into little bits.
Lessons learned
● Purpose/Mission statement is front and
center
● Constantly question, does this fit in with my
mission statement is it a what not a how?
● Maybe don’t do something so close to home
● Don’t be afraid to take a step or two back.
● Always assume Axure will take you 3x as
long as you think it will.

Interactive Design: Team in Training

  • 2. Project Problem: How to help people fundraise ● People said it was harder to fundraise than it was to run a marathon. ● I didn’t think my roommate would smile ever again. ● How can the website help this?
  • 3. Current Website Mission Statement: How can I make this user friendly and generate tools to make fundraising easier for everyone?
  • 5. Problem: Focused on How not What ● Someone asked, who are you serving? Who is this for? ● I was focusing on details instead of big picture. ● My answer had nothing to do with my prototype. ● Problem with mission statement: didn’t focus on helping people fundraise. ● Didn’t drill down to the purpose of the website: to help people fundraise. ● Didn’t determine why people had difficulty or how to make it easier.

  • 7. Brainstorm What is fundraising? - Creating a compelling story. How do you help people create a compelling story? -Have them reflect on why they’re doing this. How do you help make fundraising less intimidating? (How do you eat an elephant?) - You break it down into little bits.

Lessons learned ● Purpose/Mission statement is front and center ● Constantly question, does this fit in with my mission statement is it a what not a how? ● Maybe don’t do something so close to home ● Don’t be afraid to take a step or two back. ● Always assume Axure will take you 3x as long as you think it will.
