1. The Ultimate Luxury. « Ca'd'Oro » Homage to Venice
Homage to Venice is in no way a historical reproduction but rather a personal perception of
the sensual impact the city of Venice has on its creator's intemperate imagination. A unique,
personal, non commission Masterpiece.
It's interior, a labyrinth maze of ancient mystical concept, used for centuries as symbolic
language, and familiar to every culture. A journey that obeys its own rules, keeps its own
secrets, and just as the labyrinth encloses its secrets, homage to Venice hides its secret
drawers.
The drawer. The element of any piece of furniture that has always been the centre of
attention, but when a secret is involved for the drawer to open, there exists a sort of
fascination and complicity between the object and the person who seeks to discover its
revelation. Homage to Venice is not just a piece of furniture, although its drawers provide it
with this functional aspect. Its poetry translates some very luxurious hiding places, lined in
black leather and infinitely concealed, where the most precious of secrets may sleep
undisturbed.
The contemporary portrait on the drawers façade is none other than Bartolomeo Colleoni,
one of the Venetian Condottiere during the Renaissance. A wealthy and proud warrior of
merchant Venice who left part of his fortune to the city of Venice on condition that a
sculpture would be erected in his honour. The sculpture was the work of Verrocchio,
Leonardo da Vinci's master, who died before it was cast. It's the expression of power which
emanates from his portrait. His piercing eyes are like a final challenge to anyone who
discover the code and adventures further towards the secrets that lie beyond the drawer
façade.
The meticulous carving of the maple façade done under the watchmakers glass, once
finished, all the components were then cast in bronze so that if it's fortunate owner wanted
to order a pure gold version of it's façade, it would indeed be the ultimate fulfilment to this
extraordinary adventure.
Homage to Venice with the carved façade of the Ca'd'Oro cast in pure Gold.
As with any piece of unique Artwork like this, it's value can only be established between its
creator and its future owner who falls in love with it.
Similar to the projection of the Avant Premier of a blockbuster Movie, Homage to Venice
will emotionally involve the fortunate spectator when it is unveiled under discrete high
security supervision. The spectator will be musically introduced to reveal the emotional
perception one feels when the eye contemplates such a unique luxury experience.
