2. I chose this vibe magazine as when I was doing my research and planning this was the magazine that most stood out to me and I wanted to portray this look in when creating my magazine front cover even though the genre of my magazine is grime and the magazine in comparing my magazine too is mainly RnB and hip hop how ever both are very similar genres. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Both magazines have a large red masthead, when creating my magazine I wanted the masthead to be the biggest thing on the front of the magazine so it stands out and attracts the reader into buying it When looking at this vibe magazine the layout was very basic and straight forward similarly to mine, which would make it easier for buyers to read The house colours are also very similar, which is what give me the inspiration to choose it as the audiences I wanted to attract were similar to vibe magazines audience
3. How does your media product represent particular social groups? My magazine would mainly be aimed at young people, as its fairly cheap as they can afford t buy it as most grime magazines are free, so therefore when setting the price for my magazine I new it had to be cheap. Also the colour palette of my magazine which was black white blue and red would attract a young urban audience unlike a magazine that was pink and girly as grime is mainly targeted at boys witch is why I used a female model for the front of my magazine as in grime today threes more female artists so by putting a female model on the front the female buyers can relate to the artist, and when they see tag lines saying ‘I'm taking over’ they are more likely to buy my magazine as they want to aspire to be like the artist there reading about also the codes and codes and conventions I used such as well known features and cover stories which my target audience can relate to and the colour theme which will attract my social group into buying also, female buyers can relate to the artist, and when they see tag lines saying ‘I'm taking over’ they are more likely to buy my magazine as they want to aspire to be like the artist there reading about.
4. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? A similar magazine to mine would be RWD (rewind) magazine as it a grime based magazine and aims to promote expiring grime artists. RWD is a well known underground magazine who is published by Matt Mason, it helps unsigned artist get there name out there. This would probably be the most likely institution to produce my magazine as my magazine portrays the same ideas about getting underground urban artist names global also RWD magazine is a free magazine similarly to mine which is £1.50 which is a moderately cheap price for a magazine as my chosen target audience will be about to afford it as they are mainly still in education so they wouldn’t be able to afford expensive magazines such as vibe magazine which is expensive as it targets a older audience that grime
5. Who would be the audience for your media product? When you think of grime you usually think of a lower class society and it is mainly targeted at boys however, as Grime is the genre I know most about I decided to use the knowledge I new about the grime industry which is why I names it ‘Mainstream’ as when ever you hear a underground grime artist in interviews or TV appearances they always say they want to make it mainstream to an wider guidance and by associating my magazine around this my target audience will read it as the aspire to be like the grime icons they read about as they can relate to the songs they produced which usually revolves around money and day to day struggle. Also by putting a female model on the front of my magazine it now represent how far grime as come as there never used to be much female grime artist as there is now which is why I wanted my magazine to also target girls who enjoy listing to grime music can now also relate when they hear a female artist. Also my the features on my front cover included well known grime artist who young people will be formula with which is why I mentioned them as this will attracted my audience into buying it. The grime genre is probably the hardest music genre to make it global as most people wouldn’t understand most grime music as they mostly use slang and bad language and people of an higher or older society wont be able to relate to this type of genre. which is a reason why I based my main article on a well known female artist and based most of the questions on to make is an grime article in today's society this will also make my chosen audience more likely to buy my magazine s the espier to be like the people they read about. The audience that would read my magazine are the one that are adapted to the same lifestyle as an grime artist who are very urban young and are facing day to day challenges as we see in there song they mostly talk about money, not having a job, and how they want to make it mainstream.
