Following a blogger: Vincent Kompany
Through my portfolio you will definitely see my interest in football I think. It’s quiet an
obsession. I play it by myself, I love to watch games on television, I love to go at a game in
real life ( even it isn’t a high level of playing), so I picked a blog of a football player. It isn’t
just a football player, it’s an example for every football player now and in the future. He’s a
great player on the field but beside the field he’s a great person and that’s also very
important. I followed / follow the blog of Vincent Kompany. It’s not really a blog like tumblr
that I’ve follow but another form of blogging. I’ve been following Vincent Komany for a year
I think and I’m doing that on Twitter, a social media app.
Who is he?
I think you will definitely know him but I shall introduce him for you. Vincent Kompany or
Vincent Jean Mpoy Kompany ( the whole name ) is born on the 10th of April in 1986 and is a
Belgian professional football player who plays for Manchester City, one of the richest clubs
of the England Premier League. He’s also captain of the Belgiumteam. His position on the
field is centre back but he can also play defensive midfield. In the season of 2011-2012 he
became very famous in the whole world because he became also captain of Manchester city
and that season he leaded his club to win the Premier League ( it was a special moment for
the club because it was their first title in 44 years).
Beside a football player is he also very gentle because he had several charities started,
especially in Africa.
He is also a sportive chairman of BX Brussels ( playing in the first class of the provincial
regions) and he’s also a kind of a business man because he launched two Belgian sports bars
named Good Kompany but if I am not wrong I think that those two bars are already bankrupt
so I think that Kompany must think twice where he wants to invest in. I think it isn’t a big
problem if an investment fails because apparently he would earn € 173.333,00 a week so
that’s not bad I think.
He became professional in 2003 at a lower level, at Anderlecht. He was only 17 then. The
king played three years in Belgium and after that he moved to the German Bundesliga, to
Hamburg. In 2008 , when he was 22 years old, he gets a transfer to his current club now,
Manchester city. Not bad for a 22 year old boy ( my age now ). Since then till now , he is a
very important player for Manchester City and also one of the best defenders of the whole
Premier League. A proof of this is that he’s already been chosen 3 times in the Premier
League of the year, including big players like Eden Hazard, Steven Gerard, Yaya Touré,… so

that’s a great achievement + as biggest achievement he won the Premier League player of
the season in 2012.
But why all these great achievements for a defender? Most of the time there are attackers
who win those prices. Kompany is known as a physically strong defender with an excellent
aerial ability and mobility, as well as a good technique and distribution because sometimes
he even scores. Adding that he is also a very accurate tackler and he anticipates very well the
movements of his opponents.
Now you think that I follow him because I am also a defender who dreams to be just like him
but that isn’t. like I’ve already told, it’s more than just e great football player. He’s a great
adult, father, almost everything. he’s an example for every athlete and why I follow him on
twitter? Not just because he tweet about him with his wife eating a meal. No, it’s about
emotional tweets, powerful things right from the heart ( follow him on twitter ) and that’s
what I love about successful football players. Money is something handy to gain while doing
a thing you love, I also earn money by playing football but in the first place you must play
football because you love the game. That’s the beauty of it.
