Costumes for my Music
Video

2. Costume
In the music video there will only be two
people present however these people will
act as one character. With music videos it is
a common convention for different outfits
to be worn however since my music video is
essentially made up of narrative scenes it is
important the costumes link to match
continuity of the narrative.
There will be three main outfits worn, this
will be a casual outfit worn by the main
character, a semi formal attire worn by the
duplicate character, and a formal white
attire worn during the lip sync performance
of the music video.

4. Casual clothing
Casual clothing will be worn by the main
character, ideally I will want the character
to be wearing a hoodie. The reason for this
choice of costume is due to the fact most
chillwave artist are shown wearing casual
clothing's in gigs or if they are seen in there
music videos. Wearing casual clothing helps
the audience to relate more with the artist
as it seems the artist is one of them. Unlike
most pop artists, chillwave artist generally
prioritise there music than their
appearance.

5. Semi Formal Attire

6. Semi Formal Attire
Semi formal attire will be worn by the
duplicate of the main character, ideally I
will want the character to wear something
blue, the reason for this is because the
duplicate is the spiritual self of the main
character. Blue is the colour of the sky and
sea and is often associated with depth and
stability and commonly symbolises heaven/
faith. The reason it should be a semi formal
attire and not a casual or formal attire is to
reinforce the idea of being a spiritual
character that has descended to guide the
main character who is wearing casual
clothing. Having different clothing will also
help the audience differentiate between the
main character and his duplicate.

The third costume should be something white
ideally a white formal attire, and this should be
worn during the performance lip sync in the
white room setting. The reason the costume
should be white is because this colour is
associated with light and purity, and is also
considered the colour of perfection. This links
with the idea of the character being spiritual
and brings up the conclusion that the character
is in the after life singing this song, this
performance will intercut with the main
narrative. The reason for the white formal attire
and not casual or semi formal attire is to give
the suggestion of being spiritual and in a higher
stage in life. Wearing a different clothing for the
lip sync performance will also help the audience
to differentiate between the main narrative and
the intercutting performance.
