Freshly-Written, good quality content that is original is not only important to a website or blog, and by extension, the overall Internet. It is invaluable for all the reasons you may already be aware of, the most important of which is the ease with which search engines can identify text content and index pages of the site which published such content.
This article is about the type of content described above.

Importance of Good Quality Original Content
1. Importance of Good Quality Original Content
TPJavetonWebNet
The importance of good quality content to the success of your business, especially if you own a Webbased (Internet-based) business which depends solely on visitor activity, readership and support from
the Internet. There have been a generous supply of quotes and adages attributed to the benefits of
good content, the most popular of which is “content is king.” But others like, “content rules” and
“content is the lifeblood of the Internet” are instructive of the indispensability of good quality content.
It is true that good content exists in forms other than the written word (articles, blog posts,
copywriting, etc.), but other content forms often require the written word to bolster and strengthen
the message being delivered. Except for video content which represents the spoken word and
therefore can be at times more powerful than written content, depending on delivery, good quality
content is the result of serious thought and provoking ideas delivered in a way that engages the
reader thereby creating a compelling reason for future visit(s).
This quote from an article The Importance Of Good Content, published to Genuine SEO Blog, goes
even further in describing the absolute necessity of good quality content for website owners, bloggers
and webmasters. Here's the quote: 'They say that content is the “currency” and “soul” of the web.'
Powerful in message and substance indeed, but more importantly, it suggests that without content the
Web would not be a struggling entity that is on the way to ruination; and we know this is far from
true based on the continued growth of Internet use.
In fact, this excerpt from the Wikipedia article titled, Content is King' drives home the message
delivered by the above quote in a more deliberate and far reaching manner. It states that, 'The phrase
[content is king] can be interpreted to mean that - without original and desirable content, or
consideration for the rights and commercial interests of content creators - any media venture is likely
to fail through lack of appealing content, regardless of other design factors.' So from this
interpretation, the importance of good quality content to the survival of the Web is unquestionable.
That having been said however, the question then becomes how does one obtain good quality content
if is s/he is unable or unwilling to expend the time, energy (mostly in the form of ideas and
expressions emanating from the brain), and resources to get it? The answer to this question could
come in different forms, but the first thought that comes to mind is to get someone else (a capable
friend, family member or relative) to create it.
However, there are other ways to obtain content, most of which entail the DIY method. There are
many books available on the subject of how to create content or write articles, one of which an
individual could buy and learn how to create good quality content; or s/he could visit the various
eZines and article directories to get an idea of what other article writers are doing and the kind of
content they are creating for their own websites. Another option is to hire a ghost writer to write
fresh, good, quality content that is unique to the buyer which nobody else has or can claim as would
be the case with articles from eZines and article directories.
While the ghost writer option may be most preferred by most website owner, bloggers and
Web page creators it may not be the most practical for many due to the method utilized by most
ghost writers of charging by the word, which could become rather expensive over an extended period;
but those who have the ability to pay a ghost writer should utilize that service in order to avoid being
penalized by the search engines for “duplicate content” or worse, be accused of “plagiarism” for
2. stealing content from others. These are very serious charges for any website owner or blogger, but
especially for new Web businesses who may not be able to sustain a setback.
In conclusion, the kind of content a webmaster or blogger publishes to the Internet community, is an
expression and representation of that individual and will determine the success or failure of the entity
and, ultimately, the person. So whatever type of business you own or manage it is in your best
interest to insist on good quality content for your website or blog, especially if your business is Webbased.
More thoughts about the importance of good quality content:
“Text [written] content is particularly important for search engine placement. Without original text
content, most search engines will be unable to match search terms to the content of a site.”
– Wikipedia
Note: If search engines are unable to search terms to the content of a website, they cannot and
therefore will not send visitors to the website which deprives the webmaster of the most important
commodity for success on the Web. That commodity is “traffic!”
“High-quality web content that's useful, usable, and enjoyable is one of the greatest competitive
advantages you can create for yourself online.”
– Kristina Halvorson, author of Content Strategy for the Web
“Writing a website copy is without a doubt, a tough and time-consuming task but remember that it
reflects the company’s reputation.”
– Debra Wright for Genuine SEO Blog
“Quality, relevant content can't be spotted by an algorithm. You can't subscribe to it. You need people
- actual human beings - to create or curate it.”
– Kristina Halvorson, Content Strategy for the Web
“I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, 'Where's the self-help section?' She said if she told
me, it would defeat the purpose."
– The George Carlin, great, late comedian
Note: Website publishing, blog posting (blogging), creative work, such as text, graphics, images or
video are all categorize under the heading of “self-help” work until we are ready, willing and able to
hire someone else to do it.
