2. • Read owners/service manual for when to
change oil and what type to use
• Gather needed tools and equipment prior to
starting.
• Wear eye protection and gloves
3. • Start the car and let it run for 5-10 minutes.
This lets the oil and sludge drain easier
• Layout your tools and equipment to make
things easier to reach.
• Lift the front of the car with jack and jack
stands or car ramps. This allows the oil to
drain completely.
4. • Loosen the oil pan bolt with a wrench and
carefully remove the plug from the hole and
drain the oil into a catch container.
-use caution as the oil is hot and can splash
on you as it hits the catch pan.
• Let oil drain for 10 minutes or until it stops
• Replace bolt into oil pan and tighten to a snug
fit
5. • Replace oil filter (Pepsi can size and shape)
-Typically in the engine bay or under the
car
• Use a oil filter wrench to loosen the filter
• Carefully remove filter- Hot Oil can spill from
the filter
6. • Pre-charge the oil filter by adding new oil into
the canister to prevent damage to it when the
car is turned back on.
• Hand tighten the filter back onto the car
• Refill the engine with recommended oil from
the service manual
7. • Lower car down and start up and run for a
minute or two to get oil circulating. Check oil
level on dipstick and add if needed
• Put used oil back into a container and take it
to a recycling facility.
• Clean up tools and put them away and you are
finished!
