- In 8.1.111 Siebel find is now available in Open UI application. It is now available as part of the Siebel Search Center that enables the users to use OSES Search or Siebel Find from the same UI
- There are several methods available to find records in the Siebel application. The first is the ability to query by example directly within an applet. The second method is “Search”. This uses integration with Oracle Secure Enterprise Search (OSES) to perform indexed searches across the entire application, including records in the database and file system The third method, which is now available in Open UI, is “Siebel Find”. This allows the user to search for a record on certain pre-defined BusComps directly from the main application toolbar
- Find objects are accessible from anywhere within the Siebel application through the Search Center, which is located on the main application toolbar. It allows users to perform queries on specific predefined fields linked to specific business components (such as querying for an employee's last name). The find functionality is independent of the Oracle Secure Enterprise Search Engine. The type of object that the user selects from the Look In list determines whether the user executes a Find or a Search operation. Because Find uses direct database queries, rather than indices, Find results are a real-time reflection of database records. This makes Find appropriate for searching on transactional database records that change frequently, such as Activity or Opportunity records. The results are saved in the Find Results view until a subsequent Find operation is executed. Find results are filtered based on standard visibility rules.
- This gives a general overview of the process for locating a record using Siebel Find. After logging in, the user selects “Search” from the application menu. This opens the Search Center, which will allow a user to indicate what category they want to search against. The user specifies the search criteria and clicks “Find”, which will query the database for those results. The user can then drilldown on the records to see details in the record’s native view.
- This illustrates the options available to the user for searching across the application. The user clicks on the Search option on the application menu. The “Find” options are listed at the top, followed by the “Search” items. The list of items available to Siebel Find is configurable
- After selecting a Find Category, the user can fill in criteria and click the “Find” button to perform the search. The user can click on the reset icon to reset the criteria for the find category
- The results are displayed in the form of a list. The user can click on any of the results to drilldown and see details on that record.
