4. North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)
Agreement signed by Canada, Mexico and US,
creating a trade bloc. Came into force in Jan 1 1994.
5. Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) – Area de
Libre Comercio de las Americas.
Reduced barriers among all countries in the Americas
except Cuba. This agreement was an extension of the
NAFTA. Started in Dec 1994, but it came to public in
2001.
6. Common Southern Market- Mercado Comun del Sur (MERCOSUR).
It was founded in 1991. Promotes free trade and the fliud of movements of
goods, people and currency.
This is now a full Customs Union.

8. Union of South American Nations (UNASUR)
intergovernmental union integrating two existing customs
unions: Mercosur and the Andean Community of Nations
