What Kind of Media Institutions
 might Distribute your Media
      Product and why?
  By Jessica Pye, Ezekiel Ignacio,
 Colin Chafer and Luke van-Gelder
What product/distribution company
  would produce our media product?
• Of course because our thriller was made by
„unknowns‟ and the budget was very low, our
thriller would be produced in the UK

So who what companies would produce our
 media product?
The Microwave Scheme
• Microwave scheme is a program that supports
British filmmakers, such as ourselves perhaps,
however they are given £100,000 budget.
• The scheme has gone to produce sensational
films such as „Shifty‟ which is fast paced but with
a entwining story of friendship beneath all the
  drama.
Pathe
• “Pathé UK has a major presence within the UK
film industry, operating as a fully integrated
studio. It is involved in all aspects of film-making,
from production and development through to
  international sales and distribution.
Pathé UK's productions range from Aardman's
"Chicken Run" to Stephen Frears' „The Queen‟ to
  Danny Boyle's „Slumdog Millionaire‟.”
• Maybe if our thriller was a bit high-market, a
scheme like Pathe would be of interest
How could it be viewed?
• The world of technology is ever evolving, this helps to
develop the world of media negatively (pirate copies,
illegal downloads etc) and positively. Positively as now
you can watch most things online, on YouTube,
digitally, via DVD, on your ipod etc.
• We filmed our thriller using tape which is beneficial as
there is a hard copy; however that also means that it
  isn‟t as portable as digital.
• However we did convert our thriller to QuickTime,
which allowed us to put it on YouTube –which is one of
the ways it can be viewed.
• Also having our thriller on tape, means we could
theoretically show it on a cinema screen
Marketing
• Marketing is an important factor when drumming
up interest for any film. Of course when
marketing you need to take into consideration
your target audience and how you can advertise
  to them.
So how could we market our thriller?

Well we could distribute:
• Posters
• Convergence media via facebook
• Trailer or clips on YouTube
• Local advertisements and reviews
• Prizes to be won
• Viral marketing
• Or relying on the good old fashioned way of
  Word by mouth
Reasons for distributing by theses
            methods?
• Using these methods of marketing helps to
appeal to our target audience of 16-26
year olds as technology and gossiping is
what they are stereotypically known for
• Also being of 16-17 years old ourselves,
  these methods of marketing would
  probably also influence/effect us

  scheme and cross media convergence
