- In addition to AND and OR These are also very useful tools to be able to pull out when you are looking for books and articles. If you are smart, you’ll write these down: If you don’t have time before I go on to the next slide, I’ve written these on the board, so you can finish writing them down before you leave here today. Explain each one. - [You aren’t focussing on books for this assignment, but it is important for you to know how to find a book in our library! You might even find an excellent book related to your topic that helps you understand the issues. Or you may find a chapter or an essay in a book that you can use…] Please follow along if you’d like. When searching the catalogue, begin with a general search, and start broad – if you begin too narrow, you will limit the results you bring up, or might not come up with anything. Our catalogue isn’t like google, or the article databases – we don’t have millions of books. If you don’t find that perfect book that is exactly on your topic, you may want to look for books that may be about your topic more generally. then you may find information more specific to your topic in these books.

- There are many places online to get APA help. WL&S are the experts at MacEwan! I would recommend going there first. I also really like the Red Deer College guide, they’ve done a great job breaking out how you cite a book and an ebook and articles and 1 author or 5 authors, as well as some nontraditional sources like youtube. Purdue has a sample paper, so examples of headers and footers which can be useful. You can also ask your instructor or the library or me if you get stuck.
