Chris and Mel
In the Haunted House
SCENE ONE – ENTERING THE HOUSE
CHRIS
Mel say Hi. (CHRIS videoing them entering the
house)
MEL
Hi
CHRIS
This is us moving in to our new house together.
SCENE TWO – HOUSE ACTIVITY
MEL
Have you noticed anything strange around the
house?
CHRIS
Like what?
MEL
I don’t know I just have a weird feeling.
CHRIS
It probably just the new house feeling.

2. SCENE THREE – MORNING
The couple have awoken to see bags at other side
off room
MEL
Chris did you move the bags.
CHRIS
No.
MEL
Well you must have because there at the other
side of the room.
CHRIS
Relax. I must of, I just don’t remember.
SCENE FOUR – LATER THAT DAY
CHRIS
What you doing?
MEL
Researching the house. Did you know that a woman
died here.
CHRIS
Ooh Scary maybe we’ll catch her on the camera.
MEL
Don’t joke I believe this stuff you know. My
grandma was a medium.
CHRIS
Oh. I’m Sorry.

3. SCENE 5 – WHAT HAPPENED HERE AGAIN?
(Dinner Table)
MEL
What happened here again?
CHRIS
There was a suicide. A woman. That’s the reason
we can afford to live here.
MEL
It’s horrific.
CHRIS
It’s just a legend. But some people think that
the Lady still roams here.
SCENE 6 – THE FIRST ENCOUNTER
MEL IS GOING TO MOVE BOXES IN THE ATTIC
MEL
OH MY GOD! Chris Chris. There’s someone in the
attic. Chris go up there.
(LONG PAUSE AS HE CLIMBS LADDER)
CHRIS
Mel, There’s no one here.
MEL
Are you sure?
CHRIS
Yes. Everything is fine.
MEL
Oh sorry.
CHRIS
There is a box here. It’s got newspapers from
50years ago. Mel get up here. This is the woman

4. who committed suicide. Guess it’s not a legend
after all.
SCENE 7 – RESEARCHING LADY EVELYN WILSON
CHRIS IS LOOKING ON THE INTERNET
CHRIS
I’ve done some research on the woman that died
here. She was called Evelyn Wilson. Lady Evelyn
Wilson
MEL
I don’t want to know anything else. I didn’t
sleep at all last night.
CHRIS
I’m not trying to scare you.
MEL
Well you are so just stop it.
CHRIS
Sorry. But this isn’t something we can run away
from this was a real person.
SCENE 8 – MIDDAY
BOTH MEL AND CHRIS ARE OUT
THERE ARE CAMERA LEFT AROUND THE HOUSE ON RECORD
(Whispers are heard on the camera
Something moves in front of the camera
Then seconds later a shadow is seen outside)
(Chris comes home from work)
(The shadow vanishes)
SCENE 9 – BEDROOM
CHRIS AND MEL ARE ASLEEP
(There is movement and shadows then the door
slams and covers move.)

5. (They don’t awake.)
SCENE 10 – CHRIS GOING OVER THE FOOTAGE
CHRIS
Oh my god. There was someone here.
MEL
I’m scared.
CHRIS
When Lady Evelyn Wilson died I don’t think she
left.
SCENE 11 – LATE AT NIGHT
THE COUPLE ARE ASLEEP
(Things start to move in the house - pans and
quilts)
(The couple don’t awake)
(Pans crash on the floor create loud sounds)
(The couple awake and go downstairs to
investigate)
MEL
Oh my god. She’s here right now isn’t she?
(MEL begins to panic)
CHRIS
Let’s go back to bed.
MEL
I don’t want to live here any more I need to
leave.
CHRIS
Where would we go…?

6. (CHRIS starts to choke)
CHRIS
I…I…can’t…brea…help…stop…please.
MEL
(Screaming not moving) Stop please stop.
(The choking stops but CHRIS is unconscious)
MEL
Thank you. Please, go away.
(Chris wakes and the couple go to bed but hardly
sleep)
SCENE 12 – 4AM IN THE MORNING
CHRIS
Are you still awake?
MEL
…
(MEL doesn’t answer or move then suddenly begins
to shake. Stops then sits upright)
MEL
…
(MEL possessed by EVEYLN attacks CHRIS
constantly. CHRIS only try’s to defend himself
not wanting to hurt MEL. EVELYN doesn’t stop and
CHRIS hits his head and can no longer protect
himself. Eventually CHRIS stops breathing)
EVELYN THROUGH MEL
Say hello, to your great granddad for me…
(MEL falls asleep and EVELYN leaves)

7. SCENE 13 – THE END
(MEL wakes up)
MEL
What happened? OH MY GOD Chris, CHRIS, CHRIS!
(MEL goes into the attic to burn the newspaper
and sees a noose. She doesn’t even think twice
just puts her head in the noose and jumps down
the attic entrance)
