Beginning Monday, 2 May, eight road intersections will be closed to traffic on Hunter Army Airfield, Monday through Friday, 6:30 –

Lighting Road; William Barksdale Circle and Lighting Road; Billy Mitchell Blvd. and Lighting Road; Hickam Blvd. and Billy

12 May, 830, at Woodruff Theatre, Ft. Stewart. The USO Variety free show, in celebration of Spouse Appreciation Week, begins
at 1830 and is open to Active Duty Soldiers, Family Members and Army Civilians. Seating is limited. Featured entertainers are all
veterans of the stage, from song and dance to acting. Scheduled to appear at Fort Stewart are:
Ashley Davis is the reigning Miss Alabama 2010. After her year of service as Miss Alabama, she will continue her education as a
senior at the University of Alabama at Birmingham pursuing dual degrees in Political Science and Public Relations. Ashley is a first
generation college student and the daughter of retired military parents. She is of Native American heritage and was born on an
American military base in Germany. Beth Feller, who has numerous theatre, film, and voice-over credits, and has starred in “I Do! I
Do!- A Musical About Marriage.” She has entertained around the world with other former Miss Alabamas in the “Bama Girls” USO
shows. Jana McEachen, whose mezzo-soprano/belter voice is a crowd-pleaser and always brings the audience to their feet. Her
passion is for Performing Arts Education. Kristian Crowe, originally from Oxford, AL, now lives in Atlanta. A graduate of
Jacksonville State University, she grew up singing country and gospel music in churches and festivals all over North Alabama.
Mallory Hathcock's vocal talent was discovered at a very young age and from that developed a love for writing as well. In 2009, she
2. won first place in the Old Time Country and Bluegrass awards, which eventually led to the recording of her first CD titled, “Country
Sweetheart.”
Stephanie Shelton, a vocalist and performer from Tuscaloosa, AL., has numerous theatre and film roles to her credit. She has
performed for Mercedes Benz U.S. International, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, and at the Talladega Super Speed-way for the

Immigration Fair
12 May- 1-4 pm; 13 May- 9 -4 pm, in Bldg 709, Ft. Stewart. Fort Stewart Legal Assistance Office is hosting an Immigration Fair
with the American Immigration Lawyers Association of Atlanta. These are immigration specialists who will assist Soldiers and
Family Members with immigration questions, give legal advice, and if necessary provide free legal representation. Services can range
from filling out forms and answering simple questions to complex naturalization and immigration status topics. This event is only
open to active duty status Soldiers and their dependants. Appointments can be made in advance by coming to the Fort Stewart Legal
Assistance Office in Bldg 709 or Soldiers and Family Members are free to walk-in on the day of the event.
YOUTH SPONSORSHIP SKIDAWAY ISLAND TRIP, REGISTER BY
May 12: Registration ends May 12 for the Youth Sponsorship Trip scheduled for May 14 with departures at 8 a.m. from Stewart and 9
a.m. from Hunter for Skidaway Island, GA. Join CYSS trip to Skidaway Island's for kayaking and visit to the University of GA
Marine Education Center & Aquarium. Trip is designed for CYSS registered youth (grades 4-12) to learn more about their
surroundings and meet new friends. The cost is $15 for kayaking (grades 7-12) and $2 for aquarium entrance fee. Register at Parent

GOLF MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP FOR PURPLE HEART RECIPIENTS
May 13: Professional Golfers Career College, Hilton Head, SC, is offering a two-year (4 semesters) scholarship for an Associate
Degree in Golf Management to a qualified Purple Heart recipient who is leaving the Army prior to September 2011. The scholarship
is valued at $26,000. Professional Golfers Career College will interview all candidates and award the scholarship. The student is

May 14: The Coastal Empire Chapter of AUSA holds its 2nd Annual Poker Run for motorcycle enthusiasts, May 14, with the first

84 and General Stewart Way behind Country Inn and Suites. All proceeds will benefit the Soldiers and Families of the 3d Infantry

Soles 4 Souls One Walk
On May 14, people are rallying across the country to walk or run for children in need around the world. You can walk on your own,
with a team or start your own team for the OneWalk mission. 100% net revenue from the registration fee is dedicated to helping
deliver shoes to one of the 300 million children and untold adults around the world without shoes. Every dollar
raised provides one pair of shoes. How does it work? Well, OneWalk is your walk: you decided where; you decide how long.
Invited friends and start a team, get co-workers together or just hit the road by yourself. It doesn’t matter. It’s all
for the shoes anyways! How to get started: Individuals can register by visiting
www.soles4souls.org/get_involved/onewalk.html. Decide where and how long you want to walk for. Let us know
you are on board by visiting our Facebook tab and write on our wall. You’ll receive a registration package with a

15 May, Youth Sponsorship Kayaking/Aquarium Trip
Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield youth are invited to take a trip to Skidaway Island for kayaking and visit the University of
Georgia Marine Education Center & Aquarium. The trip is open to CYSSregistered youth in grades 4-12.
The kayaking is open to those in grades 7-12 and the fee is $15, payable upon registration. All others will visit the aquarium and

17. Scrutinize Personally Identifiable Information documents; protect yourself and your Family Members from Identity Theft -
SHRED IT. No appointment required. Turn-in for shredding occurs at two location; Hunter's PX Parking Lot, 12:30-2:30 p.m. May
16; and at Fort Stewart's Furniture Store Parking Lot (Bldg 419), 1-3 p.m. May 17. Questions may be referred to the DPTMS Security

HAAF Hurricane Safety Brief
This is another reminder of the Hurricane Safety Brief that the HAAF Crisis Operations Center is giving.
It is a post wide brief that is open to families as well as soldiers.
The brief will be on 17 May in the theater from 0900 to 1000, 1300 to 1400, and1500 to 1600.
The brief will be conducted by Mr. Leanandre Anderson. He is part of the Crisis Management Team here at HAAF. Part of his job is
to give this brief to our soldiers and their families.
He is available to give the brief to your FRG's or other groups as you desire. He will also give the brief in the evenings to assist with
more families attending.
Army Family Team Building (AFTB) Level III
17 - 19 May from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the HAAF Chapel Annex Classroom, Bldg 129. Level III “Lead” provides training to
enhance the professional growth and leadership-development opportunities for Family Members, especially those who might assume
advisory and mentoring roles within the unit and community. Topics include communication skills for leaders, leadership styles,
building cohesive teams, managing group conflict, delegation for leaders, and FRG leadership. Please RSVP to Renee McClinton at

Baby Loves Disco
Free tickets for Baby Loves Disco, whose Lemonade Tour music and fun had Club Stewart rocking for
three hours last November, are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Stewart and Hunter Leisure
Travel Offices.
Distribution of tickets, which are needed for admission to the event, began on Monday (2 May).
The dance party for kids ages four months to 7 yrs will be held in the Club Stewart Ballroom from 1700-2000
on 31 May. Children will dance to groovy 70’s and 80’s disco music and have a ball with games and activities such
as face-painting, sock puppets, an art wall and more. At Stewart, the Leisure Travel office is at building 419 in

4. Armed Forces Day Kids Run
Children ages 5-13 from Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield will join military-connected children around the world in America’s
Armed Forces Kids Day Runs on 21 May.
At Stewart, the event will be held from 0800-1200 at Jordan Youth Gym. At Hunter, the event will be held from 0800-1300 at the
corner of Steven Douglas and North Perimeter Road.
The events provide an opportunity for youth to participate in America’s Kids Run in conjunction with Armed Forces Day and as part
of the We Can! (Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition) program to combat child-hood obesity.
Each child will receive a T-shirt upon completion of his/her run. The younger kids will run half a mile, the 7- and 8-year-olds 1 mile,
and the older kids 2 miles.
Activities and games will begin when the runs are completed.
As part of Armed Forces Day activities in May each year, military dependants in the United States, in Bahrain, Greece, Puerto Rico,
Ger-many, Japan, Iceland, England, and Italy participate in America's Kids Run.

WOUNDED WARRIOR GOLF CLASSIC SEEKS PARTICIPANTS
May 23: The Wounded Warrior Foundation of the Low Country is planning their first annual Golf Classic at the Hampton Hall Golf
Course in Bluffton, SC. The tournament is a best ball scramble format. The organizers are requesting the presence of 19 Wounded
Warriors to be honorary guests. Soldiers participating will be paired up with other tournament players if they choose to play in the
tournament. Soldiers will be provided lunch, refreshments, golf clubs and a cocktail party after the tournament at no cost. Round trip

REGISTER FOR THE OUTLAW OFFSHORE FISHING EVENT, NOW:
The word is out to register by June 2 for the June 4 fishing event at Fort McAllister, GA. Like the previous event, it is popular among
Soldiers, so do not hesitate to sign-up. There are limited spaces available for Active Duty Soldiers, National Guard and Reservist.
Outlaw Offshore Fishing Club out of Fort McAllister is offering this opportunity to fish in their June tournament. Soldiers selected are
require to attend a mandatory captains meeting 6-9 p.m. June 3 at the Fort McAllister Marina restaurant (dinner provided), where boat
captain pairing and Saturday departure times will be determined. Bait and equipment will be provided, however you must have a
Georgia fishing license which may be purchased on line at http://www.dnr.state,.ga.us. For more information call Hunter Leisure

REGISTER FOR HUNTER VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL,
Now: Hunter Religious Support Office conducts their 2011 Vacation Bible School, 9 a.m. to Noon, June 20-24. Registration is open to
Chapel/DOD/Military Children from Kindergarten/4 Years old to 6th graders. The theme is "Big Apple Adventure - Where Faith and
Life Connect." Space is limited. Registration started May 1 and continues until May 30 or until all slots are full. Volunteers are also
needed to teach classes and assist with the setup/cleanup; a background check must be made before anyone can assist. Teenagers can

Teen High Adventure Camp Registration
Registration will close 2 June for the action-filled Teen High Adventure Camp, scheduled 12-17 June in the Nantahala National Forest
in North Carolina.
The trip is sponsored by the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Child, Youth and School Services and is open to CYSS-registered
youth 12-18 years of age.
Youth can learn lifetime outdoor adventure skills through activities such as hiking on the Appalachian Trail, climbing what is
described as one of the best ropes challenge courses in the Southeast, tubing in the Smoky Mountains and white water rafting down
the Nantahala River. Meals, transportation and cabin accommodations are included.
The cost is $100 per person. Register in person through Stewart/Hunter CYSS Parent Central Services. No re-funds will be granted
