The Stupid Story of a
Supposedly Smart Boy
The more-or-less autobiography of and by Jonathan Preston

                                 Thursday, December 9, 2010
My name is Jonathan Preston, as the title says. I am 15 years old at the moment, but I
won’t be on February 17, 2011. I have ADHD, OCD, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, Asperger’s
syndrome, and a mild mood disorder. The reason I am writing this is not to bore people,
but to vent a little, and maybe even get published. I have been published before, but that
was a poem. I want to write a book. I am not sure how many companies would want to
publish a 15 year old boy’s book of him venting about his life, but it is worth a shot. I am
going to write every time I need to vent, so there HOPEFULLY will not need to write,
*ehem*, type, everyday. If I can, I will also type about topics that I find problematic,
interesting, or both.
                                 Friday, December 10, 2010 8:10 am
Today is just another regular, boring day at school. What I am here to tell you
about (or, in this case, type to you about) IQs. I was told mine yesterday, after about 30
minutes of begging and reasoning (mainly begging, though). My mom told me the IQ of
genius, which is 120 points. Then she told me MY IQ. Are you ready? My IQ is 142
points. I thought she was being funny until she showed me the evaluation sheets. Sure
enough, my IQ is 142 points (this test was done in kindergarten, but I do not think IQs
change by much as people get older). Most of my life, I have barely passed in school,
getting closer and closer to failing each semester. The thing is, I failed two classes last
quarter, and I might fail two others if I don’t, as my dad says, “Get my butt in gear”.
                         Monday, December 13, 2010 5:05 pm
Today, I went to see the counselor about my grades. I already have three weeks of
summer school for two classes, and I might have another three weeks for either one or
two classes. The summer camp that I go to starts during the second set of three weeks, so
I hope I don’t get summer school then, but it doesn’t look good. I have a 54 F in Religion
2, a 58 F in Biology, a 68.5 D (68 is an F) in World History, and a 79 C in Geometry. I
have thought about going to a public school, instead of the private school that I go to
now. I don’t know if I should or not, though. I have gone to public school before, but that
was for middle school. I have never been to public high school. The vice-principle told
me I should take a tour of the school, and then tell her what I thought after that. It is now
after school, and I am taking a quick break from my homework. If I know anything about
homework, or work in general, it is that you need to take a break now and then.
                         Tuesday, December 14, 2010 12:02 pm
Have you ever noticed that people tend to gravitate towards people of the same
gender, race, religion, etc as them? Also, have you noticed that there are a lot, and I do
mean A LOT, of Jewish jokes and Black jokes, and jokes about people with mental and
physical disabilities? Have you ever heard a joke about a white, Catholic, mentally and
physically stable man? Because I have never heard one, and I am kind of mad about it. I
am Jewish and mentally disabled, but I do not have a big nose, obsess over money, or do
that thing where you hit your chest with your hand. If we have freedom of religion, then
why do people make jokes about Jews? There are also jokes about Muslims, Hindus, and
just about every other religion but Catholicism.
                         Thursday, December 16, 2010 10:32 am
Yesterday was bad. I tried to run away, but then my dad called me and told me to
get home NOW!! I half expected a cop in front of the house, ready to take me to jail. My

mom is a really big worry wart, and that scared the heck out of her. I did not have much
time between getting home and bed, so I could not do this yesterday.
                        Thursday, December 17, 2010 10:17 am
The topic for today is life in a vegetable-like state. My theory is that if you go into
a vegetable-like state, you have all of your memories and senses, but they are
undetectable. People in the vegetable state have, for lack of a better term, a puzzle that
they need to put back together. For those that have read the “Yu-Gi-Oh!” comics, when
Kaiba lost to Yugi in Kaibaland, Yugi uses mind crush, and Kaiba is forced to reassemble
his mind, but without the evil parts. My theory is similar, but the mind does not dispose
of any memories, actions, feelings, or emotions.
                                 Friday, December 17, 2010 9:01 am
I have noticed that a lot of kids in school have been getting back problems very,
very early in life. I wonder why. Oh yes, it is because of those darn school bags that
weigh 35 pounds each, on average. Some peoples’ bags, including my own, weigh
around 45 pounds. Mine weighs that much due to the computer (3 pounds) and the extra
school books (about 6.5 pounds). Boy, am I glad I have a rolling school bag!!
Another thing that bothers me is how teachers seem to either not care at all, or
care too much. In other words, some teachers just sit there, doing nothing, while others
care so much about you passing, that they get all emotional when you miss one
homework. There needs to be middle-grounded teachers, teachers that care about you
passing, but don’t freak out if you mess up, like everyone does now and then. If we had
those kinds of teachers, then maybe school would not be so annoying to go to five days a
week.
                                 Saturday, December 18, 2010 9:47 am
If it was up to me, I would still be asleep right now. My sister had to go to
Conformation class at the synagogue. Yes, I am a Jew, and proud to be one, too. I am
taking a break from the homework I am doing. Ironically, I am doing religion homework
for a Catholic school in a Jewish synagogue.
It is now 4:31 pm, and my parents are getting on my nerves. My dad is the main
problem, but that is normal. He always tries to help. At least, I think that is what he is
doing. He always tells me that if I need help, to tell him. He then goes into his office and
plays on his computer. If I need help, then he comes in, helps until we finish one subject,
then goes back into his office. If I get off topic, then he gets angry and either storms out
or gets really mean. Sometimes, he gets really mean and storms out. If I am too defiant,
then he takes stuff away in a very annoying manner. He gets up, goes to where the thing
he is taking away is, takes it, and hides it. Since he is a computer geek (and a big one at
that), he sometimes goes on his computer, removes my internet privileges, and then
comes back in to “help”. When my sister does the same general things, though, he either
ignores it (don’t deny it, dad) or he tells her to stop, get back to work, or whatever fits
that is way too nice. She is always getting things that I would not even get if I was a
perfect angel. It is probably because she is daddy’s little girl. She gets to go to the
snowball stand (or snow cone stand, in just about everywhere but New Orleans), gets
special privileges, and a lot of other things that just, as I have previously said, gets on my
nerves.

I am studying for my religion exam right now. At least, I am supposed to be.
Thank goodness the semester is almost over. I REALLY need the break. My dad is
helping me to do the work, but he JUST woke up, so he is kind of useless right now. He
works at a casino, at night at that. He works from between 6-9 pm to 2-5 am. He sleeps
until around 2:30 pm each day. He has Monday and Tuesday off, but that is it.
                           Monday, December 20, 2010 9:16 am
It is officially crunch time. Tomorrow is the first day of exams, and, teachers and
students alike are beyond stressed out. I am prepared for three of the four exams, but I am
not going to worry about the forth. I have a 50.3 in the class, so I cannot numerically
pass. What really gets me mad is that I failed that class last semester as well. Biology, I
hate you, and I hate you with a passion. My religion grade has gone to a 65.8. I am still
failing, but not even close to as much as I was about a week ago.
I am now in my Biology class. That is one of the two classes that it is statistically
impossible for me to pass. Today I found out that it is not possible for me to pass World
History; I have a 51.8 in the class. I would need more than a perfect grade on the exam in
order to pass. I would need somewhere around a 125 to pass with a 70 D. Well, at least I
don’t need to worry about what I am doing over the summer. I told the World History
teacher that I would see him here over the summer. I think he actually smiled. This is
really weird, seeing as he never shows any emotions. It does not matter if you tell him a
joke or that his body is going to turn inside-out, he will not show any change in emotions.
My teacher for Biology is really cool. She does not have a problem messing with one of
the annoying students. She has told the student that she is going to bring in a roll of duct
tape and wrap the whole thing around her mouth. She has told us to deal with her after
class (the student had done something to make the whole class mad). She said that a nice,
dark ally usually works the best. I figured we could all just turn the other way and give
her a baseball bat.

There needs to be middle-grounded teachers, teachers that care about you passing, but don’t freak out if you mess up, like everyone does now and then. If we had those kinds of teachers, then maybe school would not be so annoying to go to five days a week. Saturday, December 18, 2010 9:47 am If it was up to me, I would still be asleep right now. My sister had to go to Conformation class at the synagogue. Yes, I am a Jew, and proud to be one, too. I am taking a break from the homework I am doing. Ironically, I am doing religion homework for a Catholic school in a Jewish synagogue. It is now 4:31 pm, and my parents are getting on my nerves. My dad is the main problem, but that is normal. He always tries to help. At least, I think that is what he is doing. He always tells me that if I need help, to tell him. He then goes into his office and plays on his computer. If I need help, then he comes in, helps until we finish one subject, then goes back into his office. If I get off topic, then he gets angry and either storms out or gets really mean. Sometimes, he gets really mean and storms out. If I am too defiant, then he takes stuff away in a very annoying manner. He gets up, goes to where the thing he is taking away is, takes it, and hides it. Since he is a computer geek (and a big one at that), he sometimes goes on his computer, removes my internet privileges, and then comes back in to “help”. When my sister does the same general things, though, he either ignores it (don’t deny it, dad) or he tells her to stop, get back to work, or whatever fits that is way too nice. She is always getting things that I would not even get if I was a perfect angel. It is probably because she is daddy’s little girl. She gets to go to the snowball stand (or snow cone stand, in just about everywhere but New Orleans), gets special privileges, and a lot of other things that just, as I have previously said, gets on my nerves. • 4. Page 4 of 4 I am studying for my religion exam right now. At least, I am supposed to be. Thank goodness the semester is almost over. I REALLY need the break. My dad is helping me to do the work, but he JUST woke up, so he is kind of useless right now. He works at a casino, at night at that. He works from between 6-9 pm to 2-5 am. He sleeps until around 2:30 pm each day. He has Monday and Tuesday off, but that is it. Monday, December 20, 2010 9:16 am It is officially crunch time. Tomorrow is the first day of exams, and, teachers and students alike are beyond stressed out. I am prepared for three of the four exams, but I am not going to worry about the forth. I have a 50.3 in the class, so I cannot numerically pass. What really gets me mad is that I failed that class last semester as well. Biology, I hate you, and I hate you with a passion. My religion grade has gone to a 65.8. I am still failing, but not even close to as much as I was about a week ago. I am now in my Biology class. That is one of the two classes that it is statistically impossible for me to pass. Today I found out that it is not possible for me to pass World History; I have a 51.8 in the class. I would need more than a perfect grade on the exam in order to pass. I would need somewhere around a 125 to pass with a 70 D. Well, at least I don’t need to worry about what I am doing over the summer. I told the World History teacher that I would see him here over the summer. I think he actually smiled. This is really weird, seeing as he never shows any emotions. It does not matter if you tell him a joke or that his body is going to turn inside-out, he will not show any change in emotions. My teacher for Biology is really cool. She does not have a problem messing with one of the annoying students. She has told the student that she is going to bring in a roll of duct tape and wrap the whole thing around her mouth. She has told us to deal with her after class (the student had done something to make the whole class mad). She said that a nice, dark ally usually works the best. I figured we could all just turn the other way and give her a baseball bat. Page 4 of 4
