2. Colombian Refugee Crisis The Colombian Refugee has displaced over 4 million people, making it the second largest current refugee crisis in the world. Many different reasons account for the creation of the refugees, however the Colombian Government is yet to take appropriate measures to help those In need.
3. Colombian Refugee Crisis Some of the reasons include, but are not limited to; The Colombian ‘Civil War’ between the Colombian Army and FARC Rebels. Poverty and lack of jobs. The now non-existent Colombian Mafia which terrorized thousands of lives.
4. Colombian Refugee Crisis Currently, the major reason why people are fleeing is because of the bloody war being waged between the Colombian Army, backed by the US, and the Colombian FARC Rebels. As of now, the conflict has been staged mainly in the Rural South. The Skirmishes are getting fiercer, as Firefights erupt in the Mountains and Country-side, while the FARC Rebels do anything they can to inflict damage upon the ‘Imperialists’. The Colombian Army though, is close to exterminating the FARC Forces, as the Colombian Offensive slowly but surely pushes the FARC further and further into the Jungle. While the FARC is repelled, Colombian and American Special Forces Operatives are also killing and capturing several Leaders of the Terrorist Organization. But this is doing little to stop the FARC Rebels, they actively ‘recruit’ teenagers, taking them from they’re homes (Kidnapping them) and forcing them to fight the much stronger Colombian Army. Other Ways that the FARC inflict fear into the People is by launching Night Raids into small Villages that are relatively or completely unprotected by the Colombian Army. They also fire Rockets or improvised Mortars into Towns, killing many Civilians in the process.
6. Colombian Refugee Crisis The UN has been doing all it can to support the displaced Colombians, primarily by providing them with shelter, food, and basic education. However, the Colombian Govt. refuses to recognize the crisis, even with people leaving the country everyday. Many people are calling for action from the Colombian Government, however they are more focused on the Economy, FARC Rebels, and Drug Trafficking than anything else.
8. Colombian Refugee Crisis I could not find a refugee map, I stayed for about 20 minutes searching and no luck.
9. Colombian Refugee Crisis That is unfortunately the end of my presentation, hopefully the UN or Colombian Government, or perhaps a combination of the 2 can bring an end to the terror/poverty.
