The document discusses street food and the issues faced by loncheros, or taco truck vendors, in Los Angeles. It outlines the anti-immigrant sentiment and community scapegoating they face, and how the Asociación de Loncheros LA Familia Unida de California was formed in 2008 to advocate for taco truck vendor rights and organize against ordinances negatively impacting their industry. The presentation provides information on the coalition's current projects and advocacy efforts to change policies and ensure taco truck vendors can work freely.

26. The Asociación de Loncheros L.A. Familia Unida de California
believe catering truck owners and operators are an asset to the
economic and socio-cultural landscape of Los Angeles, and
therefore, should be allowed to thrive in a free, competitive
market. Accordingly, we believe that catering truck
owners/operators have the right to make an honest living in their
line of work. Furthermore, the members of the Asociación de
Loncheros contribute to the well-being of the communities they
operate in by complying with the regulations put forth by county
and city agencies, as well as fulfilling their commitment for
industry regulation.
The Asociación de Loncheros La Familia Unida de California
formed in 2008. Its mission is to protect the rights of catering
truck owners/operators. The association is based in Los Angeles,
California.
