OVERVIEW AND COMPANY OWNERSHIP
The Bauer Media Group are a privately owned company(formally known as Heinrich
Bauer) was founded in 1875. Since then the company has been privately owned by the
Bauer family and is now a multinational media company. The company have a range of
media, ranging from magazines to mobile apps. Magazines produced by the company
have a wide spectrum that appeals to people of all social classes, these magazines
consist of motor (car, motorbike), fishing, agriculture, care and music. However,
magazines of the same genre to mine are KERRANG!, a well known rock magazine
based in the UK and Q, a magazine that covers a lot of the music genres.
Bauer Media have ownership in Germany, USA, Spain, France, Austria, Poland,
Portugal, Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Mexico, China, Russia, Slovakia, United
Kingdom, Nigeria and Australia
WHAT PRODUCTS DO BAUER MEDIA PRODUCE?
Bauer media produce a wide
variety of media products. This
variety ranges from radio,
magazine, TV, mobile apps and
the internet.
SIMILAR MAGAZINE BRANDS TO MINE
KERRANG! Is a UK based magazine sold weekly. The audience of the
magazine is 60% male and 40% female. The magazine mainly appeals to
those of ABC1 aged around 16-24 years old.
The magazine mainly appeals to a more male audience through using
context such as hard rock and metal. The female readers are targeted
through the use of male bands and free pull posters, as well as interview.

Q is a magazine produced by Bauer Media. Just like KERRANG! This is a
music magazine with an audience of people who are ABC1. the magazine
produces content that covers a range of genres from pop to rock

Bauer media produce magazine and other forms of media that appeal to a very large
range of people.
Not only producing content for music, Bauer media appeal to gardeners of all ages.
The magazine draws in a rage of readers and provides tips and advice.
Bird watching is a magazine hat appeals to those who have an interest in nature
and like the quite and peace of being in the wild, among the birds. Of which they
watch. Bird waching is a magazine that would appeal more to an older ordiance
than younger.
Car is a magazine that covers many forms of motors, including road tests and an insight in
the world of cars. This magazine is one hat would appeal to a number of ages as many
people become fascinated with cars at a very young age.
WHY WOULD MY PRODUCT APPEAL TO BAUER
MEDIA?
My magazine ROCK MAG! Has target audience of 16-24 due to some content being
considered as mature. The demographic of readers is ABC1 that have interests such as music
and an interest in the rock culture. My magazine to an extent is also similar to another
magazine already produced by Bauer media and that is KERRANG! The colours that have
been used in my magazine are very conventional in the fact that they connote emotions that
are commonly seen in rock, these being, anger, blood, violence, darkness and energy. The
content of my magazine is orientated completely around the music as without this there would
be no magazine, the content of my magazine is informal in all aspects, the language used is
conversational and not off putting and this is something that the target audience will prefer as
my main audience is males. I have chose males to be my audience as it is conventionally
males that listen and read about rock and rock magazines, however, females are also likely o
read my magazine due to the content including male bands and they will probably want the
posters as well.
BRAND USED ACROSS MEDIA
Media brand can be represented through various forms of media. In the case of KERRANG!
They use magazines, they have radio stations, a television channel and their own website. By
using a range of media people are capable of accessing their favourite forms of media in
various ways.
