3. Early Life
• Being a native of Bangalore city, he did his entire education from
Bangalore and was a very popular student leader in the
University. He headed the student council of the university and
served as its general secretary being actively involved in the
student movement. His father was the chairman of the then
group of villages (Presently called Sarvagna Nagar) for nearly 20
years and later his brothers and then his nephews were selected
unanimously and are active in the party, representing the local
bodies.
• K.C Ramamurthy is married to Mrs. Sabitha Ramamurthy,
President of the CMR Jnanadhara Trust.
4. Professional Career

Shri.K C Ramamurthy, a distinguished police officer till recently, was working in the
rank of Inspector General of Police and was responsible for managing the
Bangalore City Traffic as Additional Commissioner. He has served in different
capacities in the city and has the reputation of being one of the most effective,
efficient and people friendly officer. He has very frequently been put in charge
during situations involving communal tension, to resolve and bring in peace. He is
closely associated with the minority communities and many Dalith organisations
and has significantly contributed to the growth of many institutions related to
Dalith issues.
Sri.K.C.Ramamurthy, apart from serving in the police department, has worked in
various other departments of the government and was specially chosen by
successive governments to lead various sensitive and important departments. He
was the Commissioner for culture and has organized many National level music
festivals and schemes for artists from different age groups. His Kishore Prathiba,
Balaprathiba are very popular and have been introduced in many other states. A
pension scheme for the aged musicians, artists, sculptures was introduced during
his tenure. The much talked about State awards were reduced in numbers and
limited to the years of the States existence and the most qualified and deserving
persons were selected. He has himself written many articles and is acclaimed as a
contemporary writer and poet. The State Government deputed eminent writers
and artists under his leadership to United States of America and United Kingdom
to participate in the world Kannada Conference.

He was chosen to bring order in the governance of Bangalore University in January
2002. As Registrar of the University, he was instrumental in the University getting
five star status from the University Grants Commission and the NAAC. He was a
student of the university, a teacher in the university, a student leader and also the
Registrar of the university. He is very popular amongst the student community and
the teaching community.

Due to this close interaction and association with the youth, he was chosen by the
State Government to head to the department of Youth Services and Sports. He
organized more than 30000 youth clubs in the state and worked towards
improvement of sports in rural areas and was instrumental in getting 100 crores
INR sanctioned to the state for building up of stadiums in rural areas and for up
gradation of the existing facilities. It goes to the credit of Sri Ramamurthy, that
today in Karnataka, there are stadiums (Sports Complex) in all the taluks. Nowhere
in the country, has this concept of rural sports complex been introduced in this
scale. To bring in health consciousness amongst the rural youth he got gyms
sanctioned to Taluk and Panchayath level. It was Mr.Ramamurthy who introduced
the sports schools in all the districts of the state and made a graded system of
identifying talent from different levels. His service in the department of youth
services was continued for three years. It was under his leadership that the Rajeev
Gandhi Yuva Shakthi took shape in the State. This scheme was later taken up by
the Government of India and spread to all the states.
6. • He is the only Police Officer who has served the city of
Bangalore in Law and Order, Traffic, Security, Armed
reserve and Crime. He has to his credit many reforms
in the department which has gone a long way in
involving public in Police matters and this has not only
got him the respect and recognition but also immense
popularity. Owing to public pressure for being more
active in political governance, he took Voluntary
Retirement and joined the Indian National Congress.
He was made member of the Main Campaign
Committee in 2008 for the Assembly Elections. He has
also actively associated with many Frontal
Organizations of the Congress.

Retired as Senior Inspector General of Police (IGP) with 32 years of distinguished civil service.

Instrumental in creating international center of education excellence in all CMR Institutions.
After voluntary retirement in 2008 joined Indian National Congress and worked for the success of Assembly and
Parliamentary candidates. Was member of the main Campaign Committee of the KPCC during the Assembly Elections.
Associated with Frontal Organisations as Advisor in Indian National Congress, particularly The Labour Cell, The IT Cell, NSUI,
Youth Congress and Seva Dal.
