How to create a google site

The background
As part of our graduation requirements we need to have a
portfolio of our 18 months in leadership.
In the past these portfolio's have been complied in
binders, then electronically on a jump drive.
However, in order to keep up with the ever growing changes in
education, the portfolios have moved to a new form:

Google Sites for e-portfolio’s
In
order to organize our portfolio’s a template for a
website has been developed using google sites.
This
template can be customized allowing for your
own flare and creativity or can be left as is.
The following slides will provide a quick reference
tool as you begin to familiarize yourself with google
sites (if you don’t know how to use it already)

How to access google sites
Log into your google email – www.gmail.com
If you do not have a google email – type in www.gmail.com and set
up a google email address.
Once logged in go to and look at the black toolbar at the top;

The select the “more” tab
And then the “even more” option

Scroll down to the “sites” option
Next chose the create button

Chose the browse the gallery for more thumbnail
Type in “Bank Street College
of Education and click the
magnifying glass

Chose the template that looks like the one below;
If this screen appears then make sure
this template in the blue toolbar at
top.

Make sure that this box is highlighted;
Then name your site (it may take a
couple of tries as your name may be
taken. Fill in the security code and
then hit the create button
10. + Editing your site
There are several key things you need to know that will help
you understand the basics to editing a site. As an overview
keep the following in mind;
There is a pencil at the top of every page that allows you to
edit.
There is also the “more button” which will bring you to the
back end of your site and will allow you to change the theme of
your site, organize your toolbars, and allow you to personalize
your site more. This is the “manage site” option

to different parts of the site;

edit the following features
Manage site brings
you to the back end of your site

On this page using this tab you;
Access your pages with the PAGES tab
Delete items with the DELETE ITEMS tab
Change theme with the THEMES tab
Change the order of things with the SITE
LAYOUT tab
Check the activity of the site with the RECENT
SITE ACTIVTY TAB
Check your attachments with the
ATTACHMENTS tab

At the home page click on the tab for – 18 MONTHS IN
LEADERSHIP
Then click on one of the competencies
Then chose one of the personal elements

From here you can add images, charts, documents, from
google docs

From here you can edit the text
And you can also add files using this button
