2. Geothermal energy is heat derived from the earth. It’s the thermal energy contained in rock and fluid in the earths crust. It is believed that the ultimate source of geothermal energy is radioactive decay occurring deep within the earth. Ground source heat pumps use the earth or groundwater as a heat source in winter and a heat sink in summer. The current production of geothermal energy from all uses places third among renewables , following hydroelectricity and biomass, and ahead of solar and wind. Using resource temperatures of 4 degrees Celsius to 38 degrees Celsius the heat pump, a device which moves heat from one place to another, transfers heat from the soil to the house in winter and from the house to the soil in the summer.

6. Geothermal energy can be used for electricity, for commercials, industrial, and house heating purposes. Also, for house heating and cooling through special geothermal heat pumps. It can also be used for preparing food, warm bathing, greenhouses, and industrial processes. Geothermal energy can probably heat around 40,000 average sized houses. Geothermal power plants are made to run all day, all year. Money does not have to be sent to install fuel for geothermal power plants. Geothermal power plants grow without pollution. Geothermal power plants, don’t have to burn fuels to make steam to turn the turbines. Earths crust! The world needs geothermal energy. Don’t waste it. Even if its renewable!
