“To use Web 2.0 you needed to have some previous knowledge about the
topic in order to create knowledge. However, on the contrary, Web 3.0
technology thinks on its own and connects one application to the other

thus providing some very good results.”

Convincing clients to upgrade websites often comes with a reaction similar to shock and awe! This goal of this presentation is provide a clear understanding of the why this is important and important to be proactive rather than reactive to this operating expense. Let’s take a look at why it might just be time for you to upgrade your website now!
It’s important to understand why we need to know about the latest trends in technology. If we don’t educate ourselves then we will be left behind, its no longer a matter of when we will fall behind but how fast…Terrance O’Brien’s quote confirms this notion.
Web 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 all have very different factors…let’s start at the beginning so that we can wrap our heads around the importance of the new HTML5 website.
Let’s stop for a moment and talk about where we have come from, where we are today and where, if we might predict we are going in the future. Web 1.0 is where it all began. And it wasn’t that long ago. In the mid 1990’s the web was all about getting information we needed. Websites were not interactive and often acted as online brochures. There was no social media, so information was strictly for us visitors to consume. Then along came…
Web 2.0 in the mid 2000’s. Web 2.0 is where still are today but the radical change was with the advent of social media. Now people are participating in their personal Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and many other pages. This is called two-way communication – so now we share and consume information…so what’s next???
This graph gives us a chance to see how components from Web 1.0 were replaced by newer and better components with the on set of Web 2.0
Web 3.0 will be more about adding to what is already good because people want richer media applications that work across every platform. We are on the cusp of Web 3.0 and our iPhones, iPads are evident of this. The other very important aspect is the merging of TV and the Internet. Many people under 30 are choosing not to watch appointment television now – they are turning to the Internet to watch TV on sites like Hulu.com and watching their favorite shows on their iPhones so if we don’t upgrade our sites to the new HTML 5 this won’t be possible meaning our videos or advertisements will be missed. Have you experienced the frustration of pulling up a YouTube video and your phone saying that you need a different application to make this play? Well this is just one example of how the upgrade needs to take place.
HTML5 is a new coding application that provides information and tags to give search engine robots the ability to link and interpret data for consistency. HTML5 coded websites work across multiple platforms most importantly mobile phones – smart phones. Statistics aren’t even available on how many people use their smart phones as a desk top. Now everyone has access to a “computer” via their smart phone which means shopping, buying tickets, doing research, making reservations and planning trips all just got easier and more accessible to the general public.
Why is this important to you? How much of your business do you do online? Let’s take a look at these aspects of your business – what are you willing to give up? I would bet none of these ---and this list is exactly what your online presence does for you…let’s take a look a couple of local websites that haven’t been upgraded yet to HTML5 and you can think about how this affects your business during this competitive time.
I want to share a very powerful video called Socialnomics. The importance of embracing social media and the internet to your business.
This auto dealership is in the process of upgrading when this presentation was put together. The automotive industry is one of the most progressive and innovative industry’s when it comes to online applications. Being able to search for automobiles that are for sale is very important and although it is cumbersome on the iPhone4 it can be done – slowly. To stay ahead in this aggressively marketed segment of industries you have to be able to view new and used vehicles online.
Although a progressive company this adventure driven tourist attraction has not yet upgraded to the HTML5 format. Their mobile application when viewed on an iPhone 4 leaves much to be desired. The flash photos do not load and to purchase a jet boat excursion without this upgrade will make it difficult for visitors. The best you could hope for via a mobile application would be to find a contact number to call.
DNA Web Agency has the new HTML5 version for their website. It has search engine attributes not available in HTML4 as well as having a mobile platform that is content driven, easy to read, loads quickly and much easier to navigate. Since customers trust their friends and in turn their friends recommendations, the new HTML5 websites offer advantages over their predecessors for ease of use when search for products or services and the ability to communicate easily with larger contact information applications.
