Drake White is a country music singer from Alabama who is debuting his new single "The Simple Life" at the annual Toad Suck Daze festival in Conway, Arkansas. White grew up singing in his grandfather's Baptist church and cites family as a major musical influence. At age 14, White began writing songs and knew he wanted a career in music. White describes his music as a blend of country, rock, blues, and soul. He takes inspiration from time spent outdoors and from artists like Garth Brooks and George Strait. White's debut single "The Simple Life" celebrates slowing down and enjoying simple pleasures like family, neighbors, and nature.

Friday night brings the start of Conway Arkansas’ annual festival Toad Suck
Daze and you can be sure it will begin with a bang once Drake White the
newest country music superstar starts rockin’ Kris Allen Stage! Recently I had the
chance to speak with Drake and delve deeper into what makes this newcomer
click…..
Drake White has his roots firmly planted in the small town of Hokes Bluff,
Alabama where he grew up singing in his grandpa Jack’s Baptist church. Describing
his grandfather as an energetic preacher who always sang during his church services,
White says that every time the church doors were open his family was there showing
praise through the gift of song. This experience and his upbringing included musical
influences that he credits to his family. “I had a lot of musical influences from my
family. My dad introduced me to the rock side with Led Zeppelin, Allman Bros, Bob
Seger, my mom sang in church, and my uncle introduced me to Merle Haggard and
some of the older legends of country music.”
2. White has always been infatuated and attracted to music ever since he can remember
but admits that it did take a back seat to sports until he was about 14. At that age
words started pouring out of him and all the thoughts he put down on paper as an
emotional release soon became the lyrics he formed into songs at 17. From that point
his determination and realization that this was the path he was supposed to take in life
has driven him forward to where he is now.
Self-described Country rocking freestyle soul blues is what White says you will find
when you listen to his music. White looks fondly back at the time from the ages of 17-
20, that every weekend he and his friends were playing guitar around a campfire. He
credits this time that developed that “funkabily” sound where old school meets funky.
When it comes to writing a catchy tune that will reach his audience he explains “I get
a lot of inspiration from the outdoors and being outside & around folks in the
outdoors. I love kayaking, hiking, fishing & hunting. Other amazing songwriters &
artists like Garth Brooks & George Straight inspire me to write quality country
songs.”
White has definitely written a winner with his first single release The Simple Life.
This is the kind of song that will make you want to sit out on the porch and drink
lemonade or relax while you’re fishing on the banks of the river. White says that he
sees kids today playing video games and always on their iPhone’s ….things are taken
so literally …. In Hokes Bluff, they take the important things seriously, but you
should just slow down and wave at your neighbor, enjoy family, God and the simple
things in life.
3. You can download The Simple Life on iTunes as well as find more information about
Drake White on tour on his Facebook page.
So the question that remains is what kind of show can our Toad Suck Daze
participants expect from Drake White? White responds: “With Drake White & The
Big Fire we always try to make it an experience. We try to get a lot of crowd
involvement and its high energy. I always want to get my fans involved. It’s rock type
energy with country lyrics and soul & I hope ya’ll enjoy it. I try to approach my job
humbly and I see it as a blessing. I never take this job for granted or lightly, it doesn’t
matter if we are playing to 3 or 3000 we play with the same energy.”
What’s next for Drake White? His plan is to become a musical road warrior and play
for anyone who wants to listen. I’d say he has had a great start after having toured
with Willie Nelson in 2011! Make sure and look for a pending Album release in the
fall and keep up with all things Drake White and The Big Fire on their website.
