I graduated from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland where I received a Bachelor
of Arts in Mathematics with a minor in Criminology and Delinquency in May of 2016.
In the summers of 2015 and 2016, I participated in the National Institute for
Standards and Technology's (NIST) Student Undergraduate Research Fellowship summer
program. During my internships I was able to implement not only the hard skills, such as
statistical techniques, but also soft skills, such as determination to succeed, perseverance,
and excitement about bringing a new project to completion. I gained important
professional skills, such as respect, good communication, and honesty with my colleagues.
I am willing to put in extra time to finish a project. I have attached the email addresses
and office phone numbers for my mentors (Mr. William Guthrie, M.S. and Adam Pintar,
Ph.D) at the end of my resume.
During the spring of 2015, I undertook an independent study titled Field Theory and
Error Correcting Code: An Introduction to Finite Fields, Algebraic and Linear Codes, and
Modern Error Correcting Codes for Information Transmission and Encryption. I performed
an independent study to gain experience working and managing large projects. The Hood
College Mathematics Department heavily embedded mathematical programming into
every required course. I have taken Modeling and Simulation, a course that solely focused
on mathematical modeling and simulation, as well as several other courses that involved
modeling/simulation. I look forward to continuing my education in the area of statistical
design and modeling, as well as learning more about performance engineering.
My resume is attached for your consideration. The best way to contact me is by
email, jmk20@hood.edu. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely,
