Raw Food Diets
Diet and nutrition are key to keeping your pet’s
immune system robust. When you give your pet
a nutritious diet of good food they will never
have menacing overweight problems and the
accompanying lethargy. These both lead to heart
disease and diabetes in mammals. Skin irritations
can also be minimized on a healthy, raw food diet.
The benefits to your animal eating a raw food
or preservative free, organic diet will be overall
performance in play and wellness.
Most commercial dog foods are nothing more than
waste from meat packers and cereal manufacturers
that have dumped their garbage into your pet’s
meals. That’s why we recommend a raw food
diet. If your animal won’t eat raw food, there are
manufacturers who create dry pet foods that
contain no preservatives. If you choose to feed your
pet one of these foods, you must consult with the
clinic to determine if your pet will also need some
vitamin supplements to compliment the dry diet.
How to Handle the
Medicines & Remedies
Homeopathic medicines are prepared from
over two hundred plant, mineral, and animal
sources.All homeopathic remedies were
first tried on humans to determine their
effectiveness before treating your animal.
Remedies must stay at room
tempertaure in dry, dark places, and
away from strong contaminating odors
Remedies should be kept at least three
feet away from all electromagnetic fields,
including microwaves, refrigerators,TVs,
alarm clocks, radios, etc.
While on homeopathic remedies, do
not give your animal any other drugs
or medicines unless discussed with
Dr. Sagrera. Conventional drugs are
particularly menacing to homeopathic
remedies, and can be antidoted or
compromised by the addition of other
additives and chemicals while in the
animal’s body.
Vaccines: Many of the health problems that are
treated later on in dogs and cats lives are a result of
too many vaccinations. It is now widely accepted that
we are vaccinating more then necessary, with more
antigens than are safe to be given all at once. This
damages your pet’s immune system, making him more
susceptible to allergies and other chronic illness.
Rescue Pets: While waiting for adoption to loving
homes, animals are under a barrage of immune system
suppressors. Usually they are kept in damp conditions
and fed poor food. In addition, they are often over
vaccinated and are spayed or neutered before being
turned over to you. These stresses can predispose the
animal to many chronic diseases.

2. I am committed to alternative veterinary
medicine as a way to improve the health
of your pet in the most natural and non-
invasive means possible.
After graduating from Louisiana State
University School ofVeterinary Medicine
in 1987, I practiced traditional veterinary
for six years. During that time, I observed
the effects of over medication and over
vaccination of pets. I saw cases where,
although the diagnosis was grim in terms
of traditional veterinary science, the pet
improved with homeopathic care.
Recognizing the success of the alternative
veterinary medicine techniques, I became a
certified classical veterinary homeopath
in 1995.
Welcome!
What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a two hundred year old practice
of medicine which has as its guiding principle,
“like treats like.” The fundamental principle of
homeopathy is that in order to cure the symptoms
from which the patient is suffering, it is given a
medicine which will cause in healthy animals the
same set of symptoms. This is known in our field
as the Law of Similarities. Homeopathy is becoming
more and more the choice of medical treatment
sought by Americans as knowledge of its non
invasive techniques comes into the mainstream of
our culture.
Unlike traditional medicine which suppresses
the presenting symptoms of illness, infection of
disease, homeopathy asks and receives support
from nature for its cures. Normally traditional
doctors treat illness with medicines that make
the problem go away quickly. Homeopaths know
that the symptoms are there for a reason, acting
as a guide to the underlying core issue that is
ultimately the cause of your pet’s poor health.
When the symptoms are all that are treated, they
will reappear in either another disease from or in
the recurring illness pattern. Homeopathy treats
the root of the problem, therefore causing the
symptoms to disappear.
Homeopathy is a practice or theory of medicine
which achieves its pronounced curative effects
with the mildest stimulus to the body through the
minute homeopathic dose. It is healing through
non-violence.This means that instead of giving
medicine that ignores the intelligence of the
animal’s body, the homeopathic doctor gives the
medicines and remedies that can strengthen the
body and help it heal itself.
Conventional Medicine
We use conventional medicine, scientific
approaches, often in our work with your pet.
Laboratory tests, x-rays, analysis of blood,
and treatments in situations of trauma are
excellent examples of when conventional
medicine is optimal.
What Now?
The complete health and lifestyle picture of
your animal is key to unraveling the patterns
leading to the health problems as they exist
today.
When using homeopathic treatments for
acute diseases and illness, your animal may
experience relief in just a few hours, or a
day or two. When the condition has been
chronic, and there are many symptoms, the
improvements may range over three months
or more. First, after the most dramatic have
subsided, it is possible that other, smaller
maladies will arise. These will be treated
too, and soon the health of your animal will
improve through consistent care.
