To begin adding gadgets to your iGoogle homepage, there are two options. First, if you have no gadgets and go to your iGoogle homepage, you will see an open space and a message saying there was no relevant content found. In this message, there is a button to add new content. Another way to get to the adding gadgets page is to look near the Google search bar and theme area for an alternate button, next to where you change your theme. There is a button saying “Add stuff >>” Click either one of those.
You are in the “Gadgets” tab of adding “stuff”. Additional information about iGoogle is available on the right-hand side, as well as a search for specific gadgets. Categories for gadgets are on the left-hand side. Browse through the gadgets, or look for a specific one.
Let’s say you wanted a useful gadget. Look in the “Tools” category. Search through the category, page by page, until you come across something you want on your page. On the side of each gadget space in the list, you can see who made the gadget, how many users have added it to their iGoogle homepage, the rating of the gadget in stars (5 stars = good, 1 star = bad) and how many ratings that overall rating is based off of.
Looking under the image for each gadget, you see the “Add it now” button. After a little browsing or searching, you find a gadget that you’d like to have. With this gadget, you can view the predicted weather forecast. Click the “Add it now” button you see under the preview picture, next to the description. Once you have clicked it, you should see this change under the picture.
If you click the link saying “You might also like...” you will get gadgets that are somehow related to the gadget you just downloaded, based on what patterns other people have set. They liked this gadget, yet they also liked all these.
When you are done adding gadgets, or if you want to make sure it is actually added to your page, go back to your iGoogle homepage. You should now see your new gadget on your page instead of no content.
