2. Acrylic is a popular art medium because of
its versatility. For both beginners and
accomplished artists alike, acrylic is great for
exploring new techniques and expanding
creativity. Acrylic paint is synthetic (humanmade) and can be applied thickly with rich
textures, similar to oil paint, or it can be
applied in thin washes or glazes, like water
colour. It can even be used to paint precision
and minute detail.

5. Think about your use of colour.
Colors affect us in numerous ways, both
mentally and physically. A strong red color has
been shown to raise the blood pressure, while
a blue color has a calming effect.
Being able to use colors consciously and
harmoniously can help you create spectacular
results.

6. Warm and cool colors
The color circle can be divided
into warm and cool colors.
Warm colors are vivid and
energetic, and tend to advance
in space.

7. Tints, Shades, and Tones
A colour can be made lighter
by adding white, the result is
called a tint.
