Personal Interests & Activities
During my time in Queens I was heavily involved with Clubs and Societies. I served for a
year as Treasurer and then three years as President of the university’s largest society, QUB
Dragonslayers, and I was made an honorary life member in 2013. During my time with
QUB Dragonslayers I have been Convention Director for the society’s annual convention, Q-
Con, which has grown to attract over 4000 people. I have also acted as Convention
Director for several events that have spun off from Q-Con catering for specific gaming
activities.
Since a young age, I have had a passion for miniature war gaming & model making. I am
currently the Ireland/Northern Ireland representative for an international miniature gaming
company and I have appeared on an internet-based Wargaming programme and blog,
Beasts Of War, as the programme expert and as presenter for several videos and themed
episodes. This has given me a lot of experience with presentation to the public and
conducting interviews on camera.
I have used laser cutters and 3D printers extensively and I have devoted some of my spare
time to designing open source projects for use with laser cutters. I have contributed to
several open-source physical and graphical design projects and have acted as a consultant
for several commercial and community design projects.
