• CD’S first began to gain popularity in the 1980s but it
wasn’t until the 1990s that they became globally
popular.The first CD single tho be released was in 1985
and was ‘Dire Straits’ with ‘Brothers in Arm’. CD players
were extremely expensive when they first came out
along with CD’s them selfs and it wasn’t until the late
90’s that you could ‘burn’ or create your own CD or
‘Mix tape’, which of course made it even more popular.
4. WHEN WASTHE LASTTIME
YOU PLAYED A CD?
• The ‘death of the CD’ as music become prevalent
after 2006 as more songs were accessible on the
internet not only for free but able to be played
much more easily on MP3 players such as the iPod.
When iTunes became popular with the release of
the iPone and new iPod people could see no need
for there old CD’s other than playing music in the
car.

MONEY NOW?
• Firstly artists make a huge amount of there money from performing
like football players you get charged a lot of money to see them so
much so the artists when going out on tour will earn most of there
money from you watching.
• Secondly artists earn money from film orTV. This is done not just by
advertising the artists music in the movie but also by the film
producers purchasing the rights to play and distribute the artist’s song
in the movie which can cost up to $250,000-$600,000 for a popular
artist. with about half usually goes to the performer, with the other half
going to whoever owns the song's publishing rights.
