1. THE WORTH OF A CHILD

VISUAL 1, THE GIFT: EACH CHILD IS A GIFT FROM GOD
II.
VISUAL 2, THE QUIVER: EACH CHILD IS LIKE AN ARROW
1. (Psalm 127:3-5) “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord; and the fruit of the womb is his
reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are the children of the youth. Happy is
the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with
the enemies in the gate.”
2. The Bible says children are:
a. A reward
b. A heritage
c. A blessing
3. Whether or not your parents wanted you or realized your worth, the Father says you are a
GIFT—a reward, a heritage, a blessing. Repeat “I am a gift from God” (for teachers).
1. When a man went to war, he carried as many arrows in his quiver as he could carry. Children
are like arrows—the more the better! Like arrows, they need to be trained to walk a straight
and narrow path of righteousness and integrity. Their “arrow heads” (spiritual preparation)
need to be sharp and ready. The “Mighty Man”, in the fullness of time, can shoot them around
the world to hit God’s strategic target. The man who has a quiver full is BLESSED and
SHALL NOT BE ASHAMED.
2. Repeat “I am a gift from God”.
III. VISUAL 3, DIFFERENT FACES: EACH CHILD IS PHYSICALLY
PLANNED BY GOD!
1. Psalm 139:13-16 “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s
womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works;
and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in
secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance,
yet being imperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were
fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.”
2. The Holy Spirit gave David understanding that:
a. His physical members were planned in the womb according to God’s Big Plan-book.
b. He was “fearfully and wonderfully” made—this understanding made David want to “praise
the Lord.”
3. Father God wants us to know and understand that each one of us were formed in our mother’s
womb according to God’s plan! (Point to each drawing)
a. . . . some of us have dark skin, some golden and some of us are very pale
b. . . . some of us have brown eyes, and some blue
c. . . . some of us have straight hair and some have curly
d. . . . some of us are boys and some are girls
e. . . . some of us are quiet and some are loud
4. But you know, it is a strange thing. Most of us want to be different.
a. If we have dark skin, we try to make it light.
b. If we have pale skin, we lay out in the sun to get dark.
c. If we have straight hair, we pay to make it curly.

2. d. If we have curly hair, we iron it to make it straight.
e. Sometimes guys even want to be girls, and girls want to be guys.
5. God wants us to know and understand that HE CREATED US FOR HIS PLEASURE. He likes
our skin, nose, eyes, hair, height, etc. We may need to ask him to forgive us for complaining
about our bodies.
a. If negative words have been spoken to us about the way we look, we may need to break the
power of those words with the TRUTH of God’s Word.
b. Teacher: You may be lead to pray right here to lead to repentance and/or to break the power
of negative words and even self-judgment.
IV. VISUALS 4A & 4B,THE EARTH & THE HAND OF GOD &
PEOPLE:
1. The Earth Was Created By God (Only show the earth, 3b uncover rest of picture)
a. Of course, you know that God created the earth with all of its beautiful flowers, high
mountains, vast oceans, variety of birds, fish, and animals. Did you know he was thinking
about you even before he created the earth?
2. God Wanted You To Be in His Family
a. He had already planned to adopt you into His family through Jesus.
b. Read Ephesians 1:4-5 “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the
world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated
us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure
of his will,”
c. 2 Timothy 1:9 “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to
our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus
before the world began,”
3. Think of it! GOD WANTED YOU to be in His family! He already knew the day you would
believe in Jesus!! You were chosen before the foundation of the earth to be in God’s family!!
If you have never received Jesus into your life, let this be the day!
V. VISUAL 5, DIFFERENT OCCUPATIONS: GOD HAS A PURPOSE
AND A DESTINY FOR EACH CHILD FROM THE WOMB
1. Do you think God would carefully plan your physical body and choose to adopt you into His
family and then say: “Do what you want. You’re on your own.”? NO!! He has planted a
“seed of destiny” in you a special plan and purpose for your life.
a. Maybe He wants you to be a scientist, or a musician, or a mother of many children, or a teacher,
or a preacher! Anything is possible because you are HIS SON or HIS DAUGHTER!
b. As you learn to listen to His voice and obey, He will lead you step by step into His plan for
your life. As you study His word it will wash you clean. Like a diamond has to be found,
cleaned, and shaped to reveal its beauty, He will clean and shape you to do His will and
reflect His glory.
c. Maybe He will give you a dream or a vision about your future. Maybe He will send a
prophet to tell you. Maybe He will speak to your heart while you are praying or maybe you
won’t know His plan for many years. It really doesn’t matter. If you follow Jesus closely,
He WILL reveal His plan!!

GOD HAS A PLAN FOR YOU!!!
The Worth of a Child
This lesson was developed when the author was given 15 minutes to challenge a large charismatic church
in Paris, France in 1987 with the vision for children. In prayer, the author received the lesson idea with
stick figures. An artist from the local church drew them on transparencies. This lesson, with a drama
about Samuel was used to challenge the thinking of the church that Sunday. It has since been used in
countless nations to release teachers and children alike, to glimpse their value to God and destiny in Him.
Sometimes it is taught with transparencies and sometimes with flashcards. May it be a valuable tool to
help you plant the vision for “The Worth of a Child.”
