1. Ensembles and conductors who have performed Muir’s music include Dennis Russell Davies,
the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Manuel Nawri, Errico Fresis, Ensemble SurPlus, Trio Amos, New
York New Music Ensemble, PHACE Ensemble, the Buffalo Symphony Orchestra to name a
few. Her music has been premiered in many international venues such as the Deutsche Oper
Berlin, Münchener Biennale, Wien Modern, MärzMusik, Academy Schloss Solitude, Wiener
Konzerthaus, the Aspen Music Festival, June in Buffalo, Ars Electronica. She also has worked
very closely with amazing soloists such as David Friedman, Lorelei Dowling, Krassimir Sterev
and Adam Weisman.
In Berlin, she is a Docent at the Berlin University of the arts where she is the Artistic
Directer and co-founder of Ensemble ilinx, Studio for New Music at the Berlin University of
the Arts in conjunction with Prof. Elena Mendoza. She is responsible for New Music concerts
with repertoire from the 20th
and 21st
century and the concert series Zoom + Focus for
student composers. Many of these productions are in collaboration with Klangzeitort—
Institut für Neue Musik UdK HfM, an organization of the Berlin University of Arts and the
Hanns Eisler Conservatory, which sponsors new music concerts and other transmedial
productions.
Muir's own music theatre productions include Von Sodom und Gomorra nach Berlin
premiered in 2012 at the Münchener Biennale as well as "Neue Szenen" prize at the
Deutsche Oper, where she was commissioned to write a 40 min. mini opera, Wie man
findet, was man nicht sucht which premiered in April of 2013.
Leah Muir was awarded a Meisterschülerin degree from the Berlin University of Arts in
2011, where she studied with Elena Mendoza, Daniel Ott and Iris ter Schiphorst. From 2007-
2009, Muir was a Fulbright Research fellow in Vienna, Austria with mentor Chaya Czernowin
at the University of Music and Performing arts. She was awarded her doctorate in 2008 at
the University at Buffalo, New York her primary advisor being David Felder, where she
lectured undergraduates as presidential graduate teaching fellow for four years. She earned
her Master of Music in Music Composition with Chen Yi and Jim Mobberley at the University
of Missouri-Kansas City in 2002.
Earlier Prizes include the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composers Award, 2001
University of Missouri-Kansas City Chamber Music Composition Competition. She received
a Bachelor of Art's degree at Bennington College in 2000 in music composition and

Als Komponistin arbeitete Leah Muir unter anderem mit dem Bruckner Orchester Linz (mit
Dennis Russell Davies), mit dem Taiyuan Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble SurPlus, Ensemble
PHACE, New York New Music Ensemble und mit Musiker von Klangforum Wien. Muirs
Kompositionen wurden auf internationalen Festivals aufgeführt, u. a. in der Deutschen Oper
Berlin, bei Ars Electronica Linz, der Münchener Biennale, MärzMusik, SoundTrack_Cologne,
WIEN MODERN, Aspen Music Festival und June in Buffalo.
Ihren Bachelor in Mathematik, Physik und Komposition schloss Leah Muir im Jahr 2000
im Bennington College ab. 2002 erhielt sie den Master of Music an der Hochschule für
Musik der University of Missouri-Kansas City. Von 2002 bis 2006 arbeitete sie als Dozentin
für Komposition an der Universität Buffalo, New York wo sie die Open Music Foundation
und die Open Music Ensembles gründete hat. Hier schloss sie 2008 ihren PhD in
Komposition ab. Von 2006 bis 2007 war Leah Muir Fulbright Recherche Stipendiatin für
Komposition an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien.
2. Seit 2015 gründete Leah Muir zusammen mit Prof. Elena Mendoza das Ensemble „ilinx",
Studio für Neue Musik der UdK Berlin, für dessen künstlerische Leitung sie mitverantwortlich
ist. Leah Muir leitet zudem die Konzertreihe „Zoom + Focus" für zeitgenössische Musik für
Klangzeitort, dem Institut für Neue Musik der Universität der Künste Berlin und der
Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin.
