personal Poetry
       or
 Lyrical Poetry
This kind of
poetry is a direct
    record of
    personal
 experience and
 feelings of the
      poet.
The poet speaks
in his own voice
Kinds of Lyrical Poetry:
           • Lyrics
           •Sonnets
           •Odes
           •Elegy
Lyrics are short
   poems on any
subject that record
  an outburst of
feeling inspired by
    something
    immediate
• Lyrics don’t have
  a specific
  structure
• They are the
  spontaneity of
  the emotion
  expressed
Sonnets :
   are a type of
lyrical poetry but
 are written in a
  specific form
The sonnet is 14
 lines of iambic
pentameter that
discuss one idea
Iambic pentameter:
 a line of verse that
  has five syllables
 unstressed syllable
    followed by a
  stressed syllable
Kinds of Sonnets
Italian sonnet            English Sonnet
• Italian sonnets are     • The English
  consist of 2 parts:       sonnet is also
• Part 1 : is called an     known as the

  Ode to Autumn
Elegy:
is a lyrical poem that
 lament the death of
       someone.
    ( a death song)
