Habit #1: Time in God’s Word … John 8:31-32 "If you continue in My Word , then you are My disciples indeed . And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free ." If you approach the lesson study in a listless, half hearted manner and present it in a dull fashion as though it were dry material that must be covered, the student will respond in the same manner. Get excited about the Word! Show how the stories and characters of the bible can relate to everyday life. Explain how the word lifted your spirit when you were down. Make the stories come alive with enthusiasm and conviction. Enthusiasm and passion are contagious! If you are excited about the studies they will be too
Habit #2 Prayer … Luke 18:1 In the 4 gospels there are 59 references to praying!!! In Luke 18:1 we read, “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” Do you think you can walk into Satan's camp and take one of his without a struggle?
Habit #3 Fellowship … J ohn 13:34-35 (LB) “ Love each other just as much as I love you. Your strong love for each other will prove to the world that you are My disciples."
Habit #4: Stewardship While we are to be good stewards of our money, stewardship also applies to the time and the talents that God gives us. A fisherman returns to God tithes and offerings as well as using his/her time and talents to God’s glory and in obedience to the Divine Commission.
Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful engines of success. When you do a thing, do it with your might. Put your whole soul into it. Stamp it with your own personality. Be active, be energetic, be enthusiastic and faithful, and you will accomplish your object. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm. … Ralph Waldo Emerson And you have much reason to be enthusiastic about: You will be feeding souls with the bread of life You will be offering truth, forgiveness and hope to souls that are seeking those very things You will be working with the Holy Spirit to make souls wise unto salvation
Count the cost! 2 to 3 hours per week for 8 to 10 weeks “ And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it - lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him” Luke 14:27-29
