All rights reserved.!6 What is Performance Schema anyway? ▪ Introduced in MySQL 5.5 ▪ A storage engine, built for recording instrumentation – PERFORMANCE_SCHEMA – Manages fixed buffers in memory with lock free hashes – Real engine, unlike INFORMATION_SCHEMA ▪ A database schema to expose the instrumentation – performance_schema ▪ A set of interfaces in the MySQL Server wrapping calls to trace – i.e. pthread_mutex_lock() -> mysql_mutex_lock()
