3. What is X-Plain?
 X-Plain is a suite of interactive patient education
programs that use illustrations and animations to
simplify concepts, narration to read the text, and
questions to verify understanding
 Our patient education software covers 30 medical
specialties and 92 medical subspecialties.
 The topics of our patient education software span the
spectrum of the stages of healthcare. They cover
prevention, diagnostic testing, disease management,
pre-op and informed consent, surgical screening and
preparation, infection control, post-op, home care,
and rehabilitation and physical therapy.

X-Plain is peer-reviewed and is available in the following
formats:
 Interactive Multi-media Tutorial:
highly interactive multimedia program that displays information, asks

self-running presentation that uses text, illustrations, animations, video, and

5. Interactive Multi-media Tutorial
 An X-Plain tutorial is a highly interactive multimedia presentation that simplifies
information based on theories of learning and behavior modification;
 uses graphics, animations and audio to engage the patient; and
asks questions and gives feedback to verify understanding.
 There are more than 800 X-Plain tutorials
 X-Plain tutorials are available through the Internet and through standalone
computers that are not connected to the Internet.
 All X-Plain tutorials are also designed to be operated from a touchscreen system,
which makes it possible for patients with no computer experience to touch the
screen and use the program. X-Plain tutorials can also be operated using a
keyboard, mouse, or the remote control of an interactive TV.

7. Video Presentation
 X-Plain software can be delivered as self-running
presentations without requiring end-user input.
 Our clients call this self-running multimedia format “X-
Plain Video Presentation”. We call it “webcast” when it is
run from the Internet or “DVD” when it is run from a DVD
player or a standalone computer.
 X-Plain video presentations can be run from websites,
DVDs, cell phones, or CCTVs.
