2. What kind of music will your magazine
focus from?
• Indie/Alternative
• This was my most common answer from my
questionnaire when asking “What genre of
music do you listen to the most?”
3. What will your magazine be called?
• Alt.
• This was mentioned as a suggestion for a
masthead in my magazine questionnaire and I
thought it was a really catchy yet simple good
idea
• Catchy, different
4. Will you feature a single artist or a
band on your front cover?
• Single artist
5. What kind of article will be on your
double page spread?
• Two ideas:
- Festivals
- Upcoming events/artists/music*
• These were the most common choices when
asking a multiple choice question on what people
would like to read articles about
• From the question “If you were to read a double
page spread what would you like to read about?”
the most answered was new artists/new music
6. What colour scheme will your
magazine have?
• Bold bright colours
• Lighter soft colours
• Bolder colours, dulled down a bit
7. How much will it cost?
• Between £1-£3
• This was the most common section of price
from my results of my questionnaire
• I think this is a good range to say as it depends
how much it’ll cost to produce
• £3
8. Feedback
• From doing this focus group people said that they thought the
indie/alternative genre was a good one to do. They liked my choice
of name “Alt.” as they said it was catchy and different so is more
unique. When talking about my double page spread they all said
they preferred the idea of upcoming /events/artists/music as this
could include festivals and because there would be more to write
about. A couple of people said for my colour scheme that bolder
colours would be a good choice as they would stand out when on a
magazine shelf. I’m still not sure on this as I don’t feel it really
represents the genre so when it comes to the production stage that
I’m going to experiment with this to see which colour scheme looks
better. As I was slightly stuck on the price I said that from my
questionnaire the range that people would be willing to spend was
from £1-£3. My focus group and I all felt that £3 was a good price as
it will cost a fair amount to produce the magazine. This price would
make sure that the production cost would be paid off as well as
being able to make a profit.
