In this slideshow I will show the results of my questionnaire and evaluate my results. I asked 30 students aged between 16 and 18, both boys and girls and here are the results…
Do you read magazines often? If yes, please specify what particular magazines. The results show that students like to read a variety of magazines. The majority seem to like reading gossip/fashion magazines but this is probably due to the fact that more girls took the questionnaire. The selection of vehicle magazines are probably chosen by the male students. Overall the results show that my target audience are interested in gossip/fashion and cars.
Do you have any hobbies or interests? The results show that the students have quite a lot of interests. This helps with creating my mood board as I know what my target audience is interested in.
Are your hobbies or interests more physically or mentally entertaining? The results show that the interests are more physical which shows that my target audience are very active. This could be due to the stress with student work. Nevertheless, in my magazine I will inform my target audience on physical activities going on around the school.
Have you found previous student magazines useful? If No, why? A very few found previous student magazines useful and the others found them boring and uninteresting. Therefore my aim is to make my student magazine more useful by helping the students with exam advice etc.
Have you found previous student magazines interesting? If No, why? The majority found previous student magazines interesting but for the few that didn’t I will make sure my magazine is interesting. I will do this by including that target audience’s interests, which I have found out from previous questions.
What are your main concerns regarding six form life? Exams and the future seem to be the main concerns on the students minds, therefore I will make my student magazine more helpful about how to deal with exams and more informing about what to do in the future.
Do you feel that you are informed a lot about activities around the school? More than half of the students do not feel well informed about the activities going on around the school. Activities are a good way to relieve stress and so I feel that this important to the students. Consequently, my student magazine will be more informing to the students about activities.
What feature of a student magazine do you value most? All three answers seem to be of equal value to the students. Therefore in my student magazine I will reinforce these features and make them the main emphasis in the magazine.
Overall, the results of the questionnaire have been very helpful and now feel I know more about my target audience and their interests. I will try to make my magazine more interesting and useful to the students and will emphasise their favourite features such as exam advice and pupil’s personal achievements.
