audience will be able to identify the
religious and political controversies of
the Affordable Healthcare Act
3. Catholic Groups Sues Obama Care over Birth
Control Rule
A total of 43 Catholic educational, charitable
and other entities filed a in federal court
around the nation Monday, May 21, 2012
charging that the Obama Administration's rule
requiring coverage of birth control in most
health insurance plans violates their religious
freedom.
The president's proposal was not to expand
the exemption, but to allow religious
universities and charities to have their health
insurers offer the coverage instead.

MIAMI (AP) — Premiums in Florida for a midrange health insurance plan under the
Affordable Care Act will be $328 a month on
average and will vary based on where a buyer
lives, according to federal figures released
Wednesday ahead of the launch of new health
insurance markets next week.
5. Baltimore Archbishop William Lori gave voice to a letter Catholic
groups sent to the administration and Congress to protest
insurance rules for .
Under the rule, churches and other houses of
worship are exempt. Women who work for
Catholic or other religious hospitals,
universities and social service agencies will still
get the no-cost birth control. But the religious
entity won't have to be involved in providing it.
An insurance company or insurance
administrator will instead.
Three years ago the Catholic Health
Association whose members run hospitals and
nursing homes across the country backed
passage of the law although the U.S.
Conference of Catholic Bishops which
represents the hierarchy of the church
opposed it.
6. MIAMI (AP) — Premiums in Florida for a mid-range
health insurance plan under the Affordable Care Act
will be $328 a month on average and will vary based
on where a buyer lives.
Of the state's six largest metro areas, premium
estimates excluding tax breaks were highest in
Orlando and lowest in West Palm Beach and Tampa.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
officials gave cost estimates based on two scenarios:
a 27-year-old and a family of four earning $50,000 a
year broken down by region. A premium for a midrange health insurance plan for a 27-year-old would
cost monthly $207 in Orlando but only $167 in the
West Palm Beach area.
A family of four with an income of $50,000 a year
would pay $816 in premiums for the mid-range
health insurance plan in Orlando but only $721 in
Tampa. Tax credits, though, help equalize the
premiums among Florida's metro areas.
