This document defines and describes various types of computing devices including workstations, video game consoles, servers, clients, mainframes, supercomputers, handheld computers, PDAs, smartphones, portable media players, and microcontrollers. Workstations are powerful desktop computers used for high-performance tasks while video game consoles are for gaming. Servers help computers connect to the internet and mainframes and supercomputers are some of the fastest computers. Handheld computers, PDAs, and smartphones are portable devices and microcontrollers are built into the machines they control.
