Our report calls for improved careers services in the capital as it is revealed that one in six jobs in the capital is unfilled because there is no-one with the right skills to do the job.
2. 1
Careers information, advice and guidance should play a key
role in addressing this issue.
In London one in six jobs is unfilled because there is no-one with
the right skills to do the job.
3. 2
We set out a number of recommendations to a range of
organisations to improve careers services in the capital.
Currently in London, adult careers services are falling short
with providers facing obstacles that limit their impact.
4. 3
We want to see providers given the flexibility to offer
tailored support to these groups.
There is currently a lack of tailored support, particularly for
people over 50, parents, women and those in low paid work.
5. 4 A lack of local up-to-date labour market information hampers
careers services in London currently.
We suggest careers services should produce up-to-date
borough level market information on a monthly basis.
6. 5
We recommend the LEP and London government has a
clear role to shape and monitor careers services in London.
The Greater London Authority and London Enterprise Panel
(LEP) are not sufficiently involved in shaping careers services.
