Loren Weiss, a student at the University of Michigan, cheered for the school's basketball team, the Wolverines, as they had a successful run in the 2013 NCAA tournament. Seeded fourth, the Wolverines made it to the Final Four for the first time in 20 years by defeating Kansas State. In the Final Four, Michigan beat Florida but lost to Louisville in the national championship game. Michigan's point guard Trey Burke was recognized as the college player of the year.

year, the NCAA's March Madness starts with
64 college basketball teams playing against
one another to determine the best team in the
nation. The 2013 event represented a banner
year for the University of Michigan
Wolverines. A fourth seed and the country's
highest ranked offensive team, they became
the first Wolverines to reach the Final Four in
20 years by defeating the Kansas State
Wildcats.
4. In the Final Four, the Wolverines played against the
University of Florida Gators and beat them 79 to 59.
They also defeated subsequent challengers, the
Syracuse University Oranges, to go to the finals. On
April 8, 2013, the University of Michigan Wolverines
and the University of Louisville Cardinals met for the
last game of that year's competition. With a final
score of 82 to 76, the Cardinals won and acquired
their first title since 1986. However, Wolverines point
guard Trey Burke was recognized as the college
player of the year by numerous top organizations,
including the Associated Press, the Los Angeles
Athletic Club, the United States Basketball Writers
Association, and the Atlanta Tipoff Club.
