DEP ED agency fails to liquidate cash advances The Commission on Audit (COA) has called on an attached agency of the Department of Education (DepEd) to settles its unliquidated cash advance for the past nine years which have reached P3.2 million as of Dec. 21, 2010. The auditors said that considering the travels for which the cash advances were made have already been completed, and since 83.39 percent the other specific purposes like training, conferences and workshops had been undertaken, the cash advances should have already been liquidated. The agency’s accountant was also urged to continuously monitor and strictly enforce the liquidation of cash advances within the prescribed period enumerated in COA circular no. 97-002. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION A May 9, 2011 press release by the Department of Education Employees from different Department of Education Central offices took part in the orientation program on the features of K+12 basic education reform program where key issues were raised on matters that affect them as employees and as parents. The K to 12 program involves Kindergarten, six years of elementary education, four years of junior high school, and two years of senior high school. The program will be designed to adjust and meet the fast-changing demands of society by providing graduates with essential skills for graduates with essential skills for the world of work, college education or for the global arena.
