Ranking high among the many
proud traditions of Florida
A&M University is the highly
acclaimed Marching "100"
Band. The first band at this
institution, formerly named
A&M College, was organized
in 1892 under the tutelage of
P.A. Van Weller. From a
meager store of 16
instruments, the Marching
"100" has grown to over 420
members.

Florida A&M University’s school colors were selected because of the green from agricultural
plants and the orange from Florida’s citrus industry.

7. Pre- Nursing
The Florida A&M University School of Nursing was founded in 1904 and
became the first baccalaureate nursing program in the State of Florida. The
undergraduate degree program is approved by the Florida State Board of Nursing. Both
the baccalaureate and master’s programs are accredited by the National League for
Nursing Accrediting Commission. The reason why I want to major in Nursing is
because, I love helping people that need guidance at any time. I
