Before Beginning...
My name is Manuela Hinojosa Lopera, I am a passio-
nate Space/Stage designer graduated from Colegiatura
Colombiana, located in Medellin, Colombia.
I am specialized in analyzing the space and unders-
tanding human needs and its relation with object and
space. With the purpose of creating innovative solutions
that communicate specific experiences and generate
new ways of inhabiting the space.
As a Space / Stage Designers I have the capacity of
developing a broad range of project types, ranging from
retail, dining & entertainment, to theater scenography
& art installations.
Each design is based on the interpretation of the
human environment demands, in order to achieve com-
prehensive proposals.

Our brand is aiming to bring wellness,
vitality and balance to our costumer`s
life,that is the reason why we transferred
those values to our store, where we offer
a comfortable and versatile space in which
you can find a relaxing spot in the city to
be in touch with the nature.
The store aesthetic is inspired by nature
forms and colors, the space is mainly open
making it easier to travel throughout the
space. The architecture was design with
the purpose of creating a harmonic relation
with the surrounding nature, following that
purpose, three main trees were integrated
to the new space, proportioning shade and
freshness to both decks.
The roof is meant to simulate the sensation
of being under the trees, the lighting and
walls texture are similar to leaves and roots,
creating a ``being in the woods`` atmosphere.

11. Geometry and Light is an artistic
installation that had place at Cole-
giatura Colombiana- Medellin on
2013. This was the final project for
the Art and Installations Workshop.
This Installation is compound by
white geometric volumes and RGB
(Red, Green, Blue) LED lights. Every
single color that appears in the
space, is the result of the RGB lights
combination, projected from diffe-
rent angles and distances to the
white objects. These three colors
combined -RGB-, when varied in
intensity, have the ability to produce
over 16.7 million different colors.
Through this experiment we analyzed how
geometric objects such as cubes, make a
perfect match with this type of light. The
cube clearly divides light rays on each face,
this means that when several light rays are
coming from different directions, they are
reflected separately on different faces
without getting mixed, only close to the
edges we can see the result of the mixing
colors.

and Culture Center
Central Boulevard
Sobre Rieles (On Rails) is an entertainment
and cultural center located in an old rail-
way station in the town of Bello, Antioquia,
Colombia. It is a space dedicated to preser-
ving Antioquia`s collective memory and
history, and principally the legacy of the
Railroad to the local architecture. The new
complex is compound by three main areas.
1. Education and History. 2. Recreation,
Culture and Entertainment. 3. Gastronomy.

16. Project
Inspiration
The project is develop from the concept "let the building speak",
which means that the overall architecture must be preserved
and restored but the interiors can be redesigned. Existing
materials are meant to be conserved and replicated, but the
experience the space offers to the visitor is completely new.
The aesthetic is based on the Industrial Vintage movement
which is known for the use of old wood and iron. The result:
a “warehouse look” that combines a true industrial feel with a
range of other styles, from the earthy to the polished. This old
school look has the purpose of creating an atmosphere that
resembles the old railroad stations.

20. Woyzeck is a musical written by
Georg Büchner, the story talks
about the dehumanizing effects
that a doctor, a woman and the
military have in the life of a young
soldier. Three main concepts
appear through the screenplay: city,
chaos and deterioration.
Under the light of these ideas three
scenographies were proposed.
In this scene the city is represented in a minimalistic
way, returning to primary forms as lines and rectan-
gles. The use of the yellow light and metal create an
atmosphere that resembles a city feeling

21. Woyzeck
The main carácter, Woyzeck, is put through a lot of
stress in every aspect of his life, he is constantly
oppressed by the society morals and exhausting wor-
king hours. Turning him into a deteriorated person.
The deterioration is shown in the space as old ``grun-
ge`` wooden doors and windows.

Wood has the capacity of recollec-
ting history on its surface. Using
wood for the scene has the purpose
of showing ravages of time, also
reminds the spectator the rubble left
behind on war periods, which is the
screenplay time period.
These doors make a
symbology between indoors
and outdoors, they also work
as access spots to the
scene for the characters .

22. Woyzeck
Woyzeck is a soldier that has mental disorders and
hallucinations due to schizophrenia, this makes his life
chaotic, where he sees a distorted reality. In this
scene, chaos is represented through moving lights,
texture projections and tangled fabric pieces.

Recre-ando is an itinerant recreation
and education project, developed
for Medellin city and surrounding
towns. This project was born from
the evaluation of the education
centers and playgrounds located in
the areas with the highest poverty
rate in the city, where we found
logistics and space problems such as
untidiness, lack of equipment, and
poor installations in general.
Consequently, with this project we
propose a new concept for educa-
tion and recreation for both kids and
grown-ups, which brings the facility
to be easily moved to whatever
place as needed, thanks to its versa-
tile modular design that allows the
whole structure to be transformed
and adapted to the space availabili-
ty.
