15. Frost & Sullivan’s Manufacturing Assessment Model
The model tests for maturity (on an established pre-graded scale) of 255 “must have” points in
a Lean and Flexible plant …
…which further define the “score” of that facility on the assessment model… thus one is able to continually measure
progress towards the ultimate business goal.

Editor's Notes
From its initial legacy of a pioneer in Emerging Market & Technology Research, the Frost & Sullivan story has taken us on a journey towards visionary innovation. Our clients have come to rely on us to look at mega trends, developing a CEO 360 visionary perspective of the future and being part of the GIL Global Community.
What makes us unique, is our unmatched global footprint across 13 different industry verticals, deep industry expertize and a CEO 360 perspective on growth.
In addition, our focus on 13 different industry verticals, with analysts in-country, in-language and in-culture, provides us with the ability to decipherer industry convergence and spark innovation & growth opportunities.
Let me take a quick poll! How many of you consider yourselves to be manufacturing executives? Ok, now the second part of the question, how many of you consider yourselves to be part of the CEO’s Growth Team….We have always wondered…how do we get manufacturing to be on part of the CEO’s Growth Team….we now have the answer. With the acquisition of Manufacturing Executive, we are proud to say that the Manufacturing will now be covered as part of the Best Practices perspective and manufacturing will have a voice on the CEO’s growth agenda.
What is very exciting now, is the inclusion of Manufacturing Leadership as part of the a career best practices track and included as part of a core CEO’s growth team.
Last year, when we attended the Manufacturing Leadership event, the synergies that we had projected were very evident. We were looking at bringing Research Thought Leadership – on Mega Trends and Industry Convergence, Automation and Process Control and Manufacturing to our combined clients. We are happy to report that this vision has been attained. Our combined clients are able to leverage this thought leadership and drive adoption of best practices and help the manufacturing community be better prepared for the future with visionary innovation deliverables like the Vision of the Future of Manufacturing & Production 2.0 and the Top 50 Game Changers in Manufacturing & Production. The services of path setting manufacturing & process consulting group from Asia, that conducts plant benchmarking, walkthrough and audits, will now be available to our combined clients. We have also integrated the Manufacturing Leadership Council website with the Growth, Innovation and Leadership community of 1.5 million user across diverse industry verticals, united by the vision of wanting to make a difference. Several opportunities of leveraging other events from Frost & Sullivan is available to the Manufacturing Leadership Council.
In summary, we have strengthened the three pillars that support the access, insights and career best practices of the manufacturing leadership council. I would encourage you to take a few moments to understand how empowering these additions can be to your careers and that of your integrated manufacturing enterprise.
Rather than a ring-side spectator’s view of industry developments, Frost & Sullivan‘s vision is to help contribute catalytically to the visionary innovation process. The Visi-MAP 2.0 research platform – allowing a unique vantage point from which to observe best practices across the manufacturing ecosystem – has brought forward Frost & Sullivan’s Top 50 game changers. These companies, in both the hardware and software spaces, are helping accelerate the journey towards the vision of the future of manufacturing and production. The Top 50 game changers are further segmented into the Top 30 manufacturing Software Companies and the Top 20 Manufacturing Hardware Companies.
We have examined the power of convergence of four major mega forces that of globalization, smart, technology and greying workforce. We have a short overview of the Top 30 Game Changers in Manufacturing Software for you today.
The convergence of these mega forces lead to 8 unique manufacturing convergence trends or manufacturing megatrends ,that through enabling critical future state requirements will help us attain or at least get close to the land of promise i.e. the “holy grails” of manufacturing.
We are very excited to share the names of the Top 30 Game Changers – Manufacturing Software category with you today. I am sure some of you are in the audience, and if you are, we would ask that you take a few minutes…and stand-up to be acknowledged by the Manufacturing Leadership Council members. This research though leadership can be further leveraged by your teams to lead and inspire your clients, drive best practices and drive US manufacturing competitiveness. Some of you will be receiving the Top 50 Game Changer in manufacturing and Production awards tonight at the Gala awards. Those of you who have not had the opportunity of knowing about the details, I would like to introduce you to Jeff Frigstad in the audience, who can help with details on how you can leverage this thought-leadership with your clients, investors and employees. We plan on evangelizing these best practices at our GIL Global events, at the Silicon Valley event Sept 8-11th. I would encourage to actively participate in the tracks that we have planned. This will be a great opportunity to connect with industry peer-groups, potential clients CEO’s and their growth teams. If you have any questions on this research I will request you to connect either today or later with SathRao, our Global Vice President for the Industrial Automation & Process Control group. We will also be releasing the Top 20 Game Changers – Hardware at the GIL Silicon Valley event.
GIL Global Community – supporting both live events and the communities-at-practice at large, helps us accelerate the adoption of best practices within the manufacturing community. The Manufacturing Leadership Journal is now available to influence the manufacturing cause through GIL Global Community.
A bit of a closer look at the GIL event…While the full two day agenda is filled with diverse activities to drive attendees’ intellectual juices, particularly germane is the Monday afternoon think tank – Transformative Technologies in Manufacturing. Our panels of industry thought leaders (potentially including some of our Top 50 companies) will inform and interact with event attendees to challenge and stimulate, further driving the manufacturing competitiveness agenda. We look forward to seeing to all there and Go Manufacturing! All the very best!
