My views on the use of the belize national curriculum and language arts
1. My views on the use of the Belize National
Curriculum and Language Arts
The main goals that the National Curriculum offers me a teacher are the
relevant instructions as a guide for me to write and execute a lesson that will
be able to teach learners the skills of language. Children who sit in a classroom
will learn well if a teacher plans well. They will be able to relate to strategies
and participate and learn what is being taught.
The Language Arts Curriculum is organized as a well balanced and
detailed guide that includes skills, attitudes, development, goals, strategies
and techniques that a teacher needs to use when he/she is planning. All the
other resources that a teacher needs in addition to planning effectively are
provided from the text he/she teaches from and other resources.
I often used the Language Arts Curriculum for writing objectives. I have
re-read the scope and sequence materials and have observed the written
methods and approaches that can be used to meet the needs of the learners
from diverse language backgrounds.
Presently, I am reading through the curriculum and tagging the
locations where I am finding methods that I can apply to the lessons I will
write and execute. Understanding and "learning" the Language Arts
Curriculum is somewhat like riding a bike. You will never forget. I hope to
master the skills of using the National Curriculum because it contains
reachable goals and it focuses on learning outcomes that will promote
measurable and attainable knowledge.
