How Technology can Put CFOs in a Better Position - Maureen Mitchell, OptiDoc
1. Interview with: Maureen Mitchell,
Chief Executive Officer, OptiDoc
Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) can
have all their records at the click of a
button and save time for improving the
bottom line, advises Maureen Mitchell,
Chief Executive Officer, OptiDoc.
“Software solutions can also help CFOs
save money by looking at return on
investments and pinpointing where the
company can expect to see the most
cost benefits,” she goes on to say.
From a solution provider company at
the marcus evans CFO Summit XXVI
Spring 2013, in Mashantucket,
Connecticut, May 19-21, Mitchell shares
her thoughts on the implementation of
software to protect vital documents.
How can CFOs improve their
business processes?
In today’s market, every company is
expected to do more with fewer
resources. The use of technology can
help this to be achieved as it focuses on
how companies are currently carrying
out their workflows and business
processes. Procedures that are taking
up a lot of precious time can be re-
designed to improve the bottom line.
What are the benefits of business
software solutions?
With solutions like document manage-
ment, any government regulations that
companies must abide by are inherent.
In this way, compliance is ensured and
heavy fines will be avoided while
avoiding the possibility of not meeting
regulatory rulings. A complete audit trail
is also created so that any foul play can
be investigated. Auditors can easily
access any necessary records, without
having the financial team search for
papers.
A full disaster recovery program can be
put in place to protect all online records.
A backup is made on the database and
taken off premises.
Software solutions can help CFOs save
money by looking at return on
investments and pinpointing where the
company can expect to see the most
cost benefits. Customer service is an
area that can also be greatly enhanced.
Representatives will have all the
information they need at the click of a
button. While talking to customers they
can simply find information or send
details by email if requested.
How does a report server reduce
printing and storage costs?
This server enables a company to take
any records, such as invoices coming
from either a mainframe or a print
stream, and place it directly into
a database. An overlay is created so
that the data is viewed exactly as a
paper invoice. Information can be
electronically captured and put in
categories, so the user can access the
page where the desired data is located.
Documents do not have to be printed
and stored, thus saving paper and office
space.
Is there anything else you would
like to add?
CFOs should rely on their technical team
to suggest new and exciting tech-
nological advances that could help them
become more productive. Technology
can enable all data to be available and
free up time to be used in planning for
the future.
