“To Light a Candle” was made by Iran’s award winning filmmak-
er and journalist Maziar Bahari, and it deals with the devastating
quality of life of the Baha’i religious minority in Iran.
It exposes decades of repression, religious intolerance, persecution
and intimidation against a peaceful community of Iranians
Portrays extensive background and context for the situation of Ba-
ha'is both before and after the 1979 revolution.
In the first five years following the revolution, an estimated 200
Baha'is were executed in Iran, and the Iranian government closed
their schools and even held public executions to discourage the
religion from spreading .
