2. I. THE DEFINITION OF A CHURC
“An assembled group of baptized
believers, united for the common
purpose of Christian edification
and the Great Commission.”
3. I. THE DEFINITION OF A CHURC
A. Qualified members –
not just saved, but baptized
B. Assembled members –
not just members, but gathered together
in a meeting
C. United members –
they have organized and bonded
together for the purposes of
encouraging each other to live for the
Lord and to accomplish the Great
Commission of Jesus Christ.
4. II. THE AUTHORITY OF THE CHUR
The Bible says that John was sent from God
• Then the Bible says the beginning of the
gospel was that John did baptize
• The Bible says that the church is built
upon the foundation of the Apostles
(Jesus being the chief cornerstone)
• The Bible says that the Apostles
understood that one of their
qualifications was that they had all been
baptized by John
5. III. THE DOCTRINE OF THE CHURC
Observations:
• There is a set of doctrines that are
traceable back to the Apostles
• We are to contend for those
doctrines (not stray from them)
• There will be those who deny and
try to turn men from them

7. III. THE DOCTRINE OF THE CHURC
The “three legs” that hold up the
Scriptural church
1. Preservation of Sanctuary
Matthew 16:18
2. Preservation of Scriptures
Psalms 12:6-7 KJV
3. Preservation of Soul
2 Timothy 1:12 KJV
8. III. THE DOCTRINE OF THE CHURC
“Section 1: Doctrine of the Bible
We believe the Bible to be verbally (every word) and plenary (complete)
inspired Word of God in the original autographs; that all portions of
Scripture are equally inspired and contain no contradictions. God’s
word is to be the only rule of faith and practice for the believer in Jesus
Christ; and that the Canon, the sixty-six books of the Bible, is complete.
We further believe that God has supernaturally and providentially
preserved His inspired word for every generation.
A. By Inspiration we mean that the books of the Bible were written by holy
men of God as they were moved by the Holy Ghost in such a definite
way that their writings were supernaturally and verbally inspired and
free from error, as no other writings have ever been or ever will be.
This was a one time event in which God once for all delivered His truth
to the church.
B. By providentially preservation we mean that God through the ages has,
in His divine providence, preserved the very words He inspired. …
C. We therefore believe that the King James Version is an accurate and
faithful translation of the original manuscripts and constitutes the
preserved, inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God for the English
speaking people of the world. The King James Version of the Bible is
the only translation used by [our] Church and [this] Bible College and
Seminary.”
