2. Sound Effects (non-diegetic)
Snoring

This will be the sound clip that
I use for the introducing scene
of my short film , “Passive
Patron”.
Door knock
Click and have a listen.
At the arrival of the landlord there will
be a door knock and this is what it will
sound like. I will have to edit in the clip
so that is doesn’t waste time.
The main difference between diegetic and non-diegetic sounds are that the first is natural sound that occurs when
filming, either intentionally or due to location circumstances. Non-diegetic sounds are recorded separately from the
film usually in a sound proof room to eliminate white noise. Both provide great effect on the viewers if they sound
believable to the film.
3. Tracks (non-diegetic)
Go ahead and listen to the tracks that I will be using,
throughout my final film. Each sound track is royalty
free, either found on YouTube, or on my schools music
sample file.

4. Diegetic sounds
These are natural sound that occur during filming either from objects on set or by any other stimuli in the
location.
I would like to use a combination of these with additional pre recorded sounds so that my audience gain a
realistic feel and can really connect to the locations and the activities the man character endures. Also I predict
that having both types of sound will help to keep my audience interested in the film and attain their attention
throughout.
Kinds of diegetic sounds I will use;
Kitchen scene- John will be making toast and tea, these sounds will be deliberately emphasised when he does
these actions.
Hallway- as John is preparing for a big shop I want my viewers to hear his keys and wallet etc. And the objects
will all be grabbed as he leaves the house. This will give a trigger of similar sound to my viewers, because they
will be able to relate to having to rush around for an adventure, provoking them to feel as though they are on
this journey with John.
