Good Stuff Happens in 1:1 Meetings: Why you need them and how to do them well
Oculus Content Strategist Presentation
1. Hello, members of Team Oculus!
Michael Carusi here. I’ve put together this presentation to showcase why I’d
be a great fit for the content strategist role at Oculus HQ.
This would be a unique and extraordinary opportunity to combine my
professional skill set with my passion for gaming. Thank you for considering
me.
Please check out the appropriate website tabs for more information about me -
you can find a detailed history of work on my blog. You can also sign up for my
occasional newsletter - I don’t spam, I promise.
You can find a downloadable PDF of my standard resume below.
2. About Me
-Bachelor of Arts in Literature, American University, proud
class of 2010.
-Served as the volunteer community manager for AmeriCares.
-Set up my own marketing consulting business after graduating,
primarily in content strategy and community management.
-Huge video game and tech enthusiast; freelance game reviews (unpaid) for
Gamerlimit, VGPub (defunct) and The Eagle (AU student newspaper).
3. Huge Games Enthusiast
Anyone can say they like video games.
This is about 60% of my physical collection.
I have more, but I couldn’t fit that many on the
shelf.
The fun part? This doesn’t even include my
digital games.
700 games on Steam, 200 more on GOG.com
Don’t worry, they never interfere with work. :)
4. My Consulting Business
I work with small businesses and startups in diverse roles: Marketing strategy,
content brainstorming blogging, copywriting, search engine marketing, and web
development.
I work directly with clients and usually other consulting team members,
including designers, researchers, and subject matter experts. I need to meet
regular deadlines.
I started with blogging and social media marketing. I gradually expanded to
inbound marketing and content strategy, and eventually web development on
an as-needed basis. Content strategy and marketing is still my primary focus.
5. Selected Clients
NAPC is a graphical asset solutions provider working for companies like Macy’s,
Ogilvy, and Sears. I act as their content strategist and community manager and
often need to make complex concepts more accessible to a wider audience. You
can see my work by checking out their blog and social profiles at www.napc.com
VolunteerSquare is a nonprofit startup designed to connect volunteers with
volunteer opportunities. They have more than 1,000 registered users and 200
registered agencies. I’ve written many of their blog posts, and I handle most of their
social media activity. www.volunteersquare.com
Bankwell is a regional banking group, who I consult for on an as-needed basis
concerning content strategy. I helped them make a major brand transition recently
to the Bankwell brand from its old name. www.bankwell.com
